SE Asia: Japan took Batavia, and DEI surrendered. Thailand had joined the Axis in the previous month by a scripted event I believe.

US was still busy preparing her Navy and couldn't venture this far ATM.

Dec 5, 1941: An amphibious assault captured Nantes with the port fully functional, thus a garrison was sent to capture St. Malo in the same turn, isolating whatever was stationed at Brest. The Axis very much ignored this, while made an attempt to recover Copenhagen.

Everywhere the Axis paid attention to, it always ended in an Allied defeat. Problem is, the Axis never had enough resources to pay attention to everything.

Meanwhile, US captured a couple undefended JAP NM islands, and the US Pacific Fleet set sail.

Jan 2, 1942: War was in it's 4th Calendar year, and things were not looking well in the middle east. The appearance of elite GER panzers and armies (guess these were the ones that previously sent to Spain) in Turkey instantly changed the dynamics there. Now the allies could only hope for a good defense, and pray the strat Bombers could keep the Axis in check. Due to bad weather in previous turns, they couldn't keep the road into Turkey blocked. Now they would find out quickly that their relatively obsolete machines were useless in this endeavor. Notice the Germans already had level 3 fighters here.

In Asia, Sian fell, while Yenan, Chengdu, Kunming, and Rangoon were all under siege. Multiple units landed in India. They came way quicker then I expected.

Jan 30, 1942: An army was sent to Copenhagen to free up the SF, who was sent to attack Brest. News of 3 Allied units in France significantly boosted the Russian morale. With the support of the Allied navy, the Army stood firm in Copenhagen.

Meanwhile, with the help of the winter, the Russians stood firm against AGS after the Dnieper line was breached. No action from AGN and AGC whatsoever. Looks like Axis was to focus on Russian south only.

Actions around Bay of Bengal: Japan expended the Indian beach head. Unknown to me, a range upgraded Para was secretly shipped in.

Rangoon fell and Burma surrendered.

I teleport 3 marine B and a fighter to occupy the island of Ceylon completely, intend to dominate all the surrounding oceans and keep the Jap navy away... a very, very terrible idea...

In the pacific, the US fleet on the move, took another Jap NM island, trapping a sub. Looks like JAP didn't expect the US navy to come so quickly.

Previously JAP took Guam and Port Moresby. These were the only Jap offensives in the Pacific Ocean.

You may be wondering why there was an Indian HQ there. Well India can build a significant amount of infantry, but won't have a HQ until Jun 42, which is a big issue, so I purchased 1. However, don't know if this caused a problem later, that the Mountbatten free HQ that was to show up by an event would never happen, since India was allowed only 2 total HQs (the other 1 from the build queue)? However I don't think build limits was supposed to stop scripted units, like the GER paratroop. But then, how can I be that extremely unlucky? Mountbatten was to have a 25% chance each turn to show up after some date, but I never got him to the end. I actually needed a 3rd Indian HQ later.

Thank you for the excellent AAR. I'm learning a lot.

I accidentally chose Zhukov when building an HQ before the German invasion. Afterward I figured I was screwed because Zhukov is a free unit upon the invasion and now I'd get nothing. Luckily Meretskov showed up in his place.

Feb 27, 1942: Western Allies had to pull back from the Turkish border, all because of just 1 German Panzer and 1 army. Bad weather grounded the entire Air Force. Russia had to send in some serious asset to deal with the threat there.

Disaster in India: A fking paratroop drop took Delhi?!, causing huge morale damage to the British... Well, I learned my lesson. After this, I had US to build all the garrisons she could, and began station one in each capital no matter what.

And remember the 3 Marine B and a Fighter I stationed on Ceylon? Turned out without a HQ and on 5 or lower supply, they were pretty much useless. The Japs wiped them all clean in just 1 turn, using her BBs, CVs, and an amphibious assault. This was definitely one of my bigger blunders, and there were more to come...I could see the Axis laughing when they detected what's on the island.

Could things get even worse still? Yes! Earlier I chose to deploy the additional RN assets in the east, instead of home water. Now this CV was deployed at Jap dominated water, and would be sunk very quickly!

3 disasters in 1 picture!

Mar 27, 1942: All it took was 1 Panzer and 1 army, to kill anything that the Allied throw in front of them, and push everyone back away from Turkey. With the support of level 3 elite Ger fighters nearby, all the Allied planes would be shot down should they dare to launch any air attack.

Finally some good news: The Allied took Tripoli and were inside Algeria.

In China, Yenan, Chengdu, and Kunming all fell. Especially the latter, China lost her life line from the west, for good.

Daring move by the US: They landed in undefended Nagasaki and Hiroshima! Yes, the US marines moved in lightning speed. The 2 SF here had been launching LRAT, landing, then launching again, every single turn. Never took any rest.

It would take the Japs quite some time to take both port back, then grow their strength to 5, by which time the Allies already had Strat Bs stationed within range, and kept both ports out of action pretty much for the rest of the war. So from here on, the Japs never really received much convoy income.

April 24, 1942: With Gibraltar firmly in Axis hands, it would take forever to ship in any Allied land unit to the Middle East. The only nearby units were either the Indians who were struggling for its own survival, and a couple Aussies who were tied up in the Pacific. Every turn Allies would lose 1 or more units, and couldn't have them replaced. With the IJN coming over to seal off any remaining shipping, the Allies had to begin retreating before it's too late. Sorry Russians.

Meanwhile, US committed everything she had in the Pacific into Nagasaki and Hiroshima. An amphibious assault took Tokyo! Another one took Saipan. All the Jap ports except Niigata were pretty much sealed off. There was no IJN ship nearby. Everything looked promising, or did it? Could we solve the Japanese problem right here?

No, not even close. The landings near various Jap cities would raise several armies for them. The bombers that came to station in Korea and China east coast would make the Americans pay a heavy price. Later the Japs were able to destroy all the Allied force on Japanese soil pretty quickly.

May 22, 1942: Russia. The weather was starting to clear up. The Axis would feign an attack on the north, with the appearance of a couple Panzers there. Immediately several Russian units were rushed there, pulled away from the south, which became very thin, with a bunch of garrisons filling the ranks.

Allies abandoned Middle East, while working feverishly westward, for any hope of survival of all the land units. There were no way out now, with IJN blocking the way to the Indian Ocean. The only chance was to reach the Atlantic coast, before the Germans could catch them. There would be no hope to hold Egypt for any extend period of time.
