Generic Units verses UNits wiht Country.

I have a bunch of questions:

When looking at the database, some units are listed as Generic, and do not have a country. Some units have a country listed.

What is the difference?

What happens if I use a unit with generic?

What if I select a unit that does not match my side (e.g. I am US, and select a unit listed as "Russia"

Must I select a unit that matches the country to my side.

When looking at the database, some units are listed as Generic, and do not have a country. Some units have a country listed.

What is the difference? There are many countries that do not have specific units assigned to them. By using "Generic Units" you can give them the types of units you want. Let's say you want to play using the country of Elbonia (assuming it is in the database). It is there in name only but you want to give it some ground units. Select a generic infantry platoon and assign it to that country. You can then rename it the "Elbonian Elite Guard" or whatever you wish.

What happens if I use a unit with generic? It should act as any similar unit but you might want to change its name to be specific to the country of assignment.

What if I select a unit that does not match my side (e.g. I am US, and select a unit listed as "Russia" Again, it should work the same. However, it might look a little strange to have a Soviet tank platoon assigned to a U.S command.

Must I select a unit that matches the country to my side. No, you are free to mix and match as you like.

Think of exports, captured equipment, etc. There are a number of reasons why a particular unit from country A might end up in country B.
The Country setting has no direct impact on unit performance.
