HQ support

Post by MagicMissile »

Hello,

Is this working as intended? I thought HQ range was 5 hexes also across water.

Here first attack no problem Wavell does his best, not good enough this time [:)]

2nd attack in Haifa still 5 hexes from HQ but no support from Wavell as far as I can see.

Maybe it doesnt trace across water but I am pretty sure it should or has something changed? If it doesnt will make invasions even more difficult.

Yes HQ command distance is not affects by land. Otherwise the Allies landing on Normandy would have no leaders.

Alvaro,

So why in the 2nd attack that MM shows above is Wavell not shown as the leader of the defending UK unit as he is within 5 hexes?

Yes the point is in one attack Wavewll supports and in the other he doesnt. Both attacks within 5 hexes but in the 2nd case the trace is over water. Ill see if I can set it up again in hotseat and see if I get the same result.

Fired up the 41 campaign moved Montgomery to the same hex the march hex outside Alexandria. I moved a German mountain coprs to Greece and invaded middle east and attacked the garrison in Haifa.

Here is attack 1 no HQ support.

Finally opened up 1944 campaign and invaded Normandy. Also across the water but here there is HQ support.

On the second turn I even moved away all German HQs. I was thinking maybe if one side didnt have any HQ nearby then the supporting HQ for the side that did have an HQ wouldnt show but no it did. I also tried a German attack on the invading unit to see if maybe on the defense there wouldnt be any support across water but there was support. So there doesnt seem to be any problem in France just in the Middle east, very strange [:)].

I have played a lot and havent seen this very before what I can remember. Might be something new. But just because I am aware now I saw this from my game with Battlevonwar.

Attacking unit 5 hexes away from HQ but target is 6 hexes away and there is no HQ support for the Soviets but the defender have.
