So does Vettel now go to Mercedes?

Or retirement maybe?
warspite1

Realistically in terms of affordability and performance its Mercedes or in terms of affordability its Renault (assuming either want him)....

There must be a faction within Mercedes that want a German driver with all the publicity that two WDC (10 times winners in total) going head to head would provide for the three pointed star.

Not happy that the season starts with a double header in Austria. One of Lewis' bogey circuits. Only won there once, whereas Max Verstappen has won twice... Don't have a good feeling about this [:(]

Fond memories of 'Our Nige' winning there in 1987, wiping out Piquet against Nakajima and storming to victory after the colossal disappointment of Hungary. Certainly got our money's worth too. The startline accidents meant the race only started after it was supposed to have originally finished. And then there were the grid girls in Steiermark dress.....

Man if any driver was robbed of a World Championship (or indeed any sportsman robbed of a title) then it was 'Red 5' that year. He destroyed, and I mean destroyed Nelson Piquet...

Happy Times at what was a REAL motor racing circuit....

Heh I love the Gran Prix

Looked up prices to attend closest,
a mere 3000$ or so ... plus transportation cost /
rental car / doing restaurants for a few days ....

call it $6000. I'm in.

The place where the grid girls serve him cooling drinks at a wave of his hand, and need ear protection when the drivers put on full gas. [;)]

Just watched free practice. Apparently, Mercedes has decided that the way to end racism is Black Livery Matters. :)

Appeal rejected. Given that Mercedes said they consulted closely with the FIA over the winter, and that a ruling on DAS and 2021 had been made in winter testing, I would have been surprised if this appeal was successful. But in F1 you never know. Let's just hope it's reliable...

Three place grid penalty to Hamilton for not letting up for the yellow flag when Bottas drove off into the gravel.

And a 5 sec. penalty takes him off the podium. Great day for Norris and McLaren. A lot of teams have a single week to figure out why their cars don't finish.

Once again a good drive from Lando.... but....

He really needs to get his act together in a race. He appears plenty fast enough over a lap but Sainz continually out-races him. And unless McLaren gave him additional power settings, where did that last lap come from compared to what he had been doing when Sainz caught him up.

Come on Lando, Sainz has a Ferrari contract. Imagine what it would do for his reputation and standing if Lando could outdrive Carlos this season...

Alonso has a drive next year, but not Vettel.

Alonso just goes back if he knows he´ll have a good car and team for the next years. Not in 2021, but Renault may be the surprise with the new rules in 2022.

Glad to see Alonso return - he is a great driver. In some ways I'm sorry to see Vettel go, but I'm also glad. The main reason for the latter is that its not pleasant to see a great champion struggle so badly - it's mistake after mistake after mistake - and these (together with his lack of pace) continue to ruin his reputation.

Just three years ago Vettel's place as one of the great drivers of F1 was assured (despite the drubbing by Ricciardo in 2014 which could perhaps be seen as a one-off bad season) but now? I think he will be judged similar to Piquet. They can't be ignored because of the number of World Championships won, but they won't figure too highly on anyone's list of all time greats.

Mmmmm..... even Mercedes are saying Red Bull are the favourites for Barcelona. Mercedes need to stop eating their tyres... This is not going well at the moment [:(]
