aircraft replacement screen

Post by LGKMAS »

Can someone confirm what I think I understand about the Aircraft Replacement screen, accessed from the i tab.

While the table shows, amongst other things, replacement and production rates, it also shows availability dates , or if you right click, the end dates. I understand that to mean that if the date is red, then production and/or replacement rates are no longer true as production has ceased. So despite the table showing 7 a/c are available each month, if the date is red, this is no longer the case and there are no further aircraft of that type produced?

There may be aircraft in the pool, and in many cases the pool increases, I think, because units upgrade and their old aircraft enter the pool, not because of actual continued production. So, if sufficient aircraft are returned to pool due to upgrades, I can actually use those old airframes for rear area training units and thus make the more advanced airframes available for my front line units. Thus F4F-3s are returned in exchange for F4F-4. I now have 18 or so F4F-3, a Sdns worth. So I can now use those F4F-3 as training aircraft, having of course paid the required PP to change the upgrade path if necessary.

Am I correct? or is there something I have missed?

Straight from manual:

The Availability Date will turn red when the aircraft is no longer available to be
delivered.

And you are correct, you can use those old airframes for training, especially if you have air units that are permanently restricted or ones you have no desire to un-restrict. When unit planes upgrade, old ones go to pool, indeed.

Thank you.
I thought all that was true but the manual does seem to be out of date in a number of areas so I thought I had better get it confirmed.

There's little in the manual that is 'out of date'.
