Manual in ereader friendly format

I prefer to read the manual on my Kindle, but the PDF does is not well formatted for that screen. I've tried converting the PDF to an Epub/Mobi/etc using Calibre, but the background image takes up every other page in the ebook document. I spent around 20 minutes trying to figure out how to remove this, to no avail.

Could the manual be provided in a format that is friendly to ebook readers?
