Looking for recommendation

Post by Rahvyn »

I recently started playing Korsun Pocket - great game by the way - and am looking also for something on a smaller scale, say Battalion(sp?) on down. Can anyone recommend a good one out there that concentrates on warfare with smaller forces??

Thanks,
Rahvyn

Hi Rahvyn

Look forward to meeting you on the KP battlefield sometime.

As far as a smaller scale goes, I cannot ever recommend anything more highly than the World at War series. It is available as freeware about the place these days. Its scenarios were:

Stalingrad (and surrounds)
Operation Crusader
DDay: America Invades (which will never work  )

The graphics and sounds are a little cluncky these days but the data, game play and AI are still top notch.

As far as modern titles go, how about the upcoming Highway to the Reich or Battlefields! from Matrix? Links from the home page.

I'd recommend finding The Operational Art of War - A Century of Warfare edition (since that is the only edition that works on winXP). It's jam packed with wholesome goodness.

If you havent tried it yet, you should try digging the original old art of war demo from somwhere. It has a full korean campaign. (one of the best campaigns in the game, actually i bought the art of war just because of the demo been so superb)
