WIE Editor Bug?

Post by Tanaka »

In WAW and WW1 I can edit the combat random numbers to 0 and save as scenario. But in WIE it changes all the scripts when I do this and asks me to update? Is this a bug or why the difference?

Hi Tanaka,

The Editor for all three SC3 games are identical and likely something else in your edits triggered the Editor wanting you to update the scripts. Sometimes it is a change in the hexes on the map, adding or removing a terrain or resource item etc.

Hard to say for sure without seeing what you did. You could save your campaign with the scripts all updated and then try and repeat it to see if it is indeed the random number change?

Hi Hubert I thought the same and reloaded the editor several times to test and each time got the same result. Could you try this on your end? In WIE editor change the default campaign Storm over Europe combat +- values to 0 and then save as custom campaign. It then asks to update all scripts which does not happen to me in the other game editors...

If you open the campaign and don't change anything in the combat values, does it ask you to update the scripts if you open Campaign -> Edit Event Scripts or Campaign -> Edit AI Scripts?

If so then this suggests something has been modified in the campaign on a previous occasion triggering the scripts to need updating, rather than it being related to what you're changing in the Editor at this time.

Hi Bill you were correct. I did not think if possible for the default campaign to be changed but something must have happened along the way. Will delete and reinstall.

Update on that: So I deleted the default campaign and did a verify file integrity in steam and reinstalled. Went back into the editor loaded the default campaign pressed save as and get the scripts pop up again on a fresh install. So something must be wrong with the scenario?

Thanks for the report and it looks like just the DECISION events were not updated for that campaign. It should be fine as the last set of decisions are already embedded into the campaign, just any minor change prior to release wasn't updated.

This will be corrected for the next update.
