To my knowledge, the CS need to have their organic air group on them when they convert. The conversion of the ships ALSO converts the air groups to their new composition.

Very true. I made the mistake of taking the air groups off in my (hopefully soon to be reborn) PBEM game. Fortunately ([8|]), I lost some carriers and was able to find new homes for the orphaned air units.

yeah I'll keep that in mind for future conversions. I still have 2 CS which can convert to CVL, but I think I'll keep them around to resize float plane units.

You only need one to resize FP units. Not sure about your game, but in the stock game, Nisshin is pretty slow.

Nisshin enters the game as a Chitose-Class CVL in BTS. Never understood why they thought those diesels would be just as effective engines.

Diesels can be more efficient and less troublesome.

Notable reinforcements: a Yugumo class DD, and CV Taikaku (shokaku kai class) The Akizuki class DDs have finished their radar upgrades and will escort the Taikaku until, she can group up with her sister ship the Kaimon in Carrier Division 5. I've begun accelerating the last 2 Shokaku Kai carriers I get rather than the carriers closest to finishing. This should allow me to have all my carriers finished by the end of 43. With the arrival of the Taikaku I now have 10 fleet carriers, 5 CVL, and 2 CVE, with 1 CVL and 2 CVE undergoing their conversion. The Allies currently have 2 enterprise class Carriers and the Wasp, the Formidable for about a week until it withdrawals, the CVLs Hermes and Charlotte, 3 Long Island CVE, and 2-3 Bogue class CVE.

Not alot happened today, air strikes in china were relatively ineffective due to bad weather, and air strikes in India did not fly. The troops at Bataan have had their disruption go down a fair amount so I'll likely order them to attack on the following turn. The main event today was a couple Chinese corps shock attacking across a river into a IJA division I had forgotten to change from move mode to combat mode. The results would've been better if they were in combat mode.

Ground combat at 85,42 (near Sian)

Allied Shock attack

Attacking force 30400 troops, 95 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 1010

Defending force 14894 troops, 101 guns, 1 vehicles, Assault Value = 478

Allied adjusted assault: 629

Japanese adjusted defense: 814

Allied assault odds: 1 to 2

Combat modifiers
Defender: terrain(+), op mode(-), fatigue(-)
Attacker: shock(+)

Japanese ground losses:
1125 casualties reported
Squads: 5 destroyed, 104 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 7 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 2 disabled
Guns lost 14 (1 destroyed, 13 disabled)

Allied ground losses:
1790 casualties reported
Squads: 7 destroyed, 159 disabled
Non Combat: 1 destroyed, 13 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 8 disabled

Assaulting units:
5th New Chinese Corps
27th Chinese Corps
9th Chinese Corps
2nd Chinese Cavalry Corps

Defending units:
69th Division
41st/C Division

August 27th Battle of Bering Sea

Today was a butt clencher, Dean decided to sortie most of his available carriers sans the enterprise to attack my carrier TF near Kodiak. Dean got off the first strike, and I expected to at least lose a carrier or two. Thankfully the CAP did its job and was able to shoot down a good deal of the attackers prior to the attack.

Morning Air attack on TF, near Cordova at 186,40

Weather in hex: Heavy rain

Raid detected at 79 NM, estimated altitude 12,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 31 minutes

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 29

Allied aircraft
F4F-3A Wildcat x 6
F4F-4 Wildcat x 57
SBD-3 Dauntless x 71
TBF-1 Avenger x 8

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 1 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-3A Wildcat: 1 destroyed
F4F-4 Wildcat: 9 destroyed
SBD-3 Dauntless: 16 destroyed, 12 damaged
TBF-1 Avenger: 3 damaged
TBF-1 Avenger: 1 destroyed by flak

Japanese Ships
CV Hiryu
BB Haruna
CV Zuikaku
CA Atago
CVL Nisshin
CVL Shoho
BB Kongo
BB Hiei
CV Kaimon

I have No idea how dean scored 0 hits here. Maybe it was pilot quality? or disruption from how badly the cap mauled his strike beforehand? idk.

Japanese Counterstrike

A Japanese Strike was launched simultaneously to the American Strike but found their targets second. CAP ended up shooting down around 15 bombers but the majority of the strike got through. The first dive bombers to attack scored hits on the CVE Kittyhawk, which was followed by hits on the wasp. By the end of it both Allied fleet carriers and all of the CVEs had been hit and were burning. I don't think the fleet carriers are dead yet, so I have follow up strikes planned for tomorrow. Yorktown looks like she's a goner for sure based on the smoke obscuring her, but by the after noon the fires on wasp are no longer heavy.

Congrats on your victory , Dean looks like someone that doesnt learn from his mistakes. Tried to engage you earlier with carriers and lost a couple , now a month later does the same thing again and expects a different result... I think its time to find a more competant opponent

BANZAI!

All glory to the Emperor!

Pretty depressing fight for the Allies. Not a single hit. How badly were his bombers mauled before they tipped over into their dives and TT attack?

Around 25-30 bombers were shot down or forced to turn around prior to their attack, along with around 15 wild cats. At least 35-40 bombers made it and were able to attack but somehow scored 0 hits. They were dropping them bombs at normal dive bombing altitudes (3-5k) so altitude wasnt the problem either. Maybe pilot quality wasnt great???

Also I can confirm that dean has surrendered so this game is over. We will probably start a new game in about a week or so. Not sure if I'll be doing an AAR for that though or what mod we will use.

Thank you for the heads up, btw why does japan start with less dockyard factories in BTS than in RA? At least the version of the mod that my opponent is using only has 1600 dockyard points despite the increased build queue. Was this a rebalancing since RA or an under sight? In RA the japanese start with almost 1700 dockyard points at the start.

Michael and I (with the help of 6-8 playtesters) did a thorough top-to-bottom revamp of both BTS Mods. That'll be the difference.

Hope to get the update out tonight.

So I've proposed the idea of a mulligan to dean, and hes responded fairly positively to it. So this game might actually continue with us rolling back a turn before the carrier fiasco. I've never had a game last this long and I really want to get to 43. I dont really feel that I need to kill his carriers either considering I hold such a dominate position on the map.
