Q's re Terminology

Post by wkuh »

Some terms mystify me, perhaps someone can clue me in.

"bis" as a suffix to an air units identifier
"OBDL" as a kind of recon air unit
"EIS" as in unit "14. (EIS)/KG27"

bis is an italian term and means improved variant, should be seen on aircraft types
EIS = Eisenbahn = unit specialized on train/rail attacks
OBDL = Luftwaffe High Command = Strat recon units directly reporting/assigned to high command
WitE dev team - (aircraft data)
WitE 1.08+ dev team (data/scenario maintainer)
WitW dev team (aircraft data, partial data/scenario maintainer)
WitE2 dev team (aircraft data)

Interesting! Would never have thought that for bis (separate from I-153BS which IIRC or assumed was bomber series).

Nomenclature was one of the hardest things for me coming into the game. Stab flights, RAD labor detachment, FBD, etc.
