Invasion fleet I hoped to intercept today, veered off for another target so our destroyer squadron stood down. While another is flank speed steaming into a patrol for a juicy daytime engagement if the rng smiles on us.
Still hiding around New Guinea awaiting for better naval search.
Deliberate attack at Perth today! Lets see if we can pull this off.

Perth liberated...IJA forced to retreat![:D] Kaboom!
The battle was overseen by Lt General Lavarack, recently put in charge of Australia Command from Kalgoorlie, and Major General Savige in charge of Western Command in Perth...Allied adjusted AV of 334 increased to 442 by our excellent leadership! (and other factors of course).
It will take the 21st Division a long time to recover.

Fearing an amphibious invasion, the retreat started yesterday at Rangoon, and our brave troops broke combat and got away prior to the attack by 4 IJA Infantry regiments, 1 artillery regiment and 1 engineer regiment.
Paratroopers tried for an encirclement, but our troops are in good order heading for Prome where our Chinese Allies should arrive tomorrow to bolster the 3rd Burma Rifles. On the following day the 1st Burma/A unit should arrive too.

Our lagging Chinese Corp, facing 600 tanks in 9 units, will escape today. It might not seem like a lot, but it buys us another full day as the tanks will have to set up for an attack, and not start moving till tomorrow. It is little things like this that really can make the difference between victory and defeat.
Otoh, I failed to send the crack 66th Division with a whopping 36 37mm AT guns here, instead originally thinking they were needed on the Ankang road.
I am going to see if I can close off some of these IJA lines of supply and isolate some units. Long term project here.

Can't tell you how proud of my Australian troops here, and the Dutch light cruisers. Now the Americans will enter the fray, while the British are still steaming here with their commitments.
Sweep Geraldton tomorrow afternoon with a combined USN Dutch task forces, and then bombard the following night. Geraldton could be in a pickle...or I might try for a difficult daytime bombardment. Don't think I can pull that off given the range and other requirements.
This Perth Adventure by the Japanese is in peril! If I can close Geraldton, putting those 50 Zeroes stranded on the ground, then our 25 Banshees and 12 Hudsons and 12 Wirraways should have a field day as the 21st Dvision retreats north up death alley.

The 45th American Base group with 6 dozers and a dozen engineers arrived today at Kalgoorlie. It will become a strong airbase in no time at all (now size 1 37%).
As far as I can tell there is no Japanese aerial recon going on here...which helps to explain why the IJA tanks retreated from a US Art Btln. Too bad he didn't drop some paratroops...we were waiting for them.[;)]

No time for victory disease here with the Allies, Australia is facing a dire threat and Japan can reinforce a lot more quickly than we can...
Nasty IJN heavy cruisers rules the seas here off the East Coast.
Down near Sydney, 3 Stuart I's arrived for a tank regiment, 4 more in the pools.

Who is your LGEN commanding Western Command?
He should be written up for a DSO!

Good recon and intel lets you determine how your opponent plays...I would never use IJN CVEs this way....
Also, we managed to shoot down two more Babs with flak last turn, bringing the game total to 8!

Device Upgrades:
I unlocked 25# artillery, and the B and C units of the 1st Burma division helped themselves to 4 pieces, but no Australian unit upgraded...I have around c25+ left.
3 Stuart 1s arrived in eastern Australia. Was hoping to get some out west near Perth.
I unlocked 8 105mm pieces for the Chinese, but no joy there...where they are needing in the forest rough terrain countering the IJA tank spearhead. I don't think they will arrive today either...we shall see.
Still trying to understand how and why the display "=" gets used on the lcu screen.

I think Improv is short for improvised, not improved. [8|] Some steel plates welded to a truck chassis, not really a factory designed and produced armoured car.

I am in 1943 with lots of supply in China and the Chinese units still will not upgrade to 105s. Have had them in rest mode, well supplied large bases, HQs in range, etc. but no dice. The Marine Regiments with 75mm guns get them instead.ORIGINAL: Lowpe

With Java now captured, does Nathan load up and go for a flanking attack at Esperance with KB in support? Or does he go bolder (Whyalla and ultimately Port Augusta) to cut you off without triggering Emergence Reinforcements?

This is Lowpe we are talking about
He's probably got the entire US Navy plus some Marines just waiting there for him [;)]

I like the way you think...and thought exactly the same thing, except that he would probably just land directly on Port Augusta. Currently have the 34th US Inf Regt there, along with 6th Port Maint, the 190th FA and the Australian 4th Division arriving tomorrow. I should get some warning.
I also thought about Japan going straight for Sydney! I am looking at Broken Hill as perhaps being a staging point for the reserve...able to move east or west quickly. I am not afraid to SR troops into a beach landing if I have forts 3+.
To be honest, I think the pasting Japan got in Perth Harbor, the odds of a direct push on Sydney or going below the Brisbane line is remote currently -- an invasion of Noumea though is high. Japan has spotted a few Yank units around Perth, and it scared him...he has to be thinking of cutting off the shipping to Perth.
I have not spotted the KB in 2-3 days.
Saratoga is at Hobart. Giving me 1 Fleet CV, 3 CA, 8 CL and 21 destroyers for the defense of Perth to Port Augusta. I need to get some AKE or AE here to support. Yorktown just reached Pearl and will join up with Lex and E. I would like to raid Hokkaido, but I don't feel I have the fighter strength to do it yet.

If it were me, I would be thinking how could I pocket and destroy all that Australian strength or if Australia is strong at Perth, must be weak at Brisbane.
But Japan is stretched thin...Singers, Balikpapen, Miri, Luzon, Wake and Mindanao are still untouched and some are thorns in his side. Burma will fall quickly back to Lashio...China will be determined in 2-3 days. Wake will require a division and the KB...I think this is where the KB is heading currently, looking to catch my USN fleet carriers...this is where I want his KB away from Oz and the shipping line headed there.
