NEI Navy

I have a question regarding the NEI Navy. In my first game at WAW I captured the NEI with Japan and they surrendered accordingly but I saw NEI Navy units later in the game..! Will they survive after NEI are captured? It is true that The Netherlands were still neutral...

If another major power liberates the Dutch East Indies (NEI) they become it's minor and that power can purchase their units.

There is a chance (i think around 25%) that minor units may remain with their major after their country surrenders. I'm not sure if it is increased if they are in a 'safe' port but that feels right.

Same also with French Special Forces.

In my experience the DEI navel and air units don't surrender when the DEI's surrender.

You need to try and destroy them as part of your invasion.

That is what I thought, that they remain alive! Many thanks.
By the way, How can I get Thailand to joint the Axis without investing MPPs? Is there a script about this?

Yes there is a script for it, but I don't read scripts etc.

Usually they will join the Axis when Japan DoW.

If China DoW's on Indochina and doesn't take it on the 1st turn then, both Indochina and Thailand will join the Axis.

All minor nations units has a small chance to not surrender, if they are outside of their own nation; some, including DEI has specific scripts, that make their units not surrendering, as they did not do it in the war IRL.

The Java Light Cruiser (DEI) was re-inforced to strength 10 in an Indian port.

DEI surrendered

The ship remained (hooray)..albeit 1 hex outside of port

but was set back at its original 5 strength (boo)

& annoying

Perhaps this reflects a portion of the ships (and their crews) that didn't make it out or refused to fight after the DEI's surrender.
In this case 50% of them.

Don't see the Pillboxes as a purchase for DEI. Must be different MOD or situation displayed
