Wow, my record is awful. Glad I took a break, quit playing so many games. Doing alot better with moderation. Wrapping up 1 game up, my mirrored set going well. So I started the 4th. Need my focus.

Binge watched Band of Brothers over the weekend. All 10 episodes, been awhile since I'm watched Winters, Spears, Nix, Wild Bill, Babe, Malarky, Shifty, Bull, Webster, Sobel, etc. Time to watch episode 5 of 6, The Undoing on HBO.

What other stats do you have, like balance of Axis/Allies wins? (Probably need to consider skill level of players). My ranking sucks. Got my ass kicked by Cpuncher many times, also the other top players. I can only go up, from here. Need a big win.

So of the first 25 tournament games, 10 were won by Axis and 15 by Allies. I wouldn't read too much into that at the moment. If we get to 50 and it's 30-20 to the Allies then I might start to think the Allies have an advantage.

Game between Taifun (axis) and calcwerc (allies) concluded. Taifun wins.
Calcwerc surrendered september 42 with the loss of Moscow, Leningrad, Stalingrad and Calcutta. A desperate invasion in France 42 to help the russians was too badly played out to make any impact. I think Taifun is gonna win a lot of games with his determination and no-nonsense approach. He did a few moves which I normally would think of as suboptimal (giving up Northern-Africa, reinforcing Ethiopia, not protecting Italian fleet in summer 40), and still I stood no chance. To my defence I tried out new strategy in Russia and it didnt work out at all.

Many thanks calcwerc for this game and for your fast turns. You played a very good naval game and even though I had level 4 subs I could not seriously damage your convoy lanes. I am ready to start a new game for the return match, now me as Allies (a first for me...)
I invite all to follow this ended game in our AAR:

Well, the allies have a lot of ships, and i put them all in the Atlantic as I had to stop Germany somehow. I think I might have had a chance with a deeper defence in Russia, but it gets very difficult for the Russian player when Japan attacks as well... Probably also a big mistake with commiting allies to winter war, as you were very good at keeping Russian war readiness down (not invading Denmark, Netherlands, Greece and Yugoslavia just before Barbarossa). Have no high hopes for beating you now either, but good game, hopefully this one can be a bit more challenging

Game ended
taffjones (Axis) V Earlydoors (Allied)

Axis resigned in 41.

Great game Earlydoor's completely outplayed me. Packed the defence of France, forced early entry of Italy and would have soon had all of NA and EA.

I stupidly took Estonia very early, so Russia joined before I could beat the French.

Game, set and Match to Earlydoors,
Thanks for the lesson in how not to play[:D]

Hi there, I'm interested in joining, what do I need to do?

It's rather simple & informal

1) Find someone to play, that agrees to an ELO game
2) Play by the basic rules (listed somewhere in this thread), there's few moves been banned. Think no Diplo on Majors, for example.
3) When you start your game, post in this thread some like this, "Skinster took Allies and is play SomeOtherDude got Axis"
4) When finish game, post he winner
5) ELO records being kept by player here

I'm interested in a new game of this, now that the patch is out. My preference is for the allies, and the house rules ElvisJJRambo refers to are these I believe:
By Cpuncher
1. No diplo on Majors.
2. No diplo on Bulgaria (haven't tested if Allies can keep Bulgaria out of war until Mid 1941).
3. No DOW USSR until 1941.

I'm fine with all 3, so if you are okay with this, then I'll start up a new password-protected game.

I would like to join in on the fun. Can I just enter the ranking system? Would like to test my skill, if I can still hold up.

The house rules seem reasonable. I can play Axis or Allies with no prefernece.

Is something like this planned for WW1 also?

greetings

Yup, just start playing, note the games here when you start and post the results when they're finished.

if anyone wants to set something up they're welcome to - I can share the spreadsheet template that I use to keep track of the games (also used for the WiE tournament)

Game ended ELO [WIN] ElvisJJonesRambo-Allies vs ThunderLizard2-Axis) ---> Another mega grind against skilled player. TL2 used Diplo for Turkey/Spain/Sweden, decided to ignore & spend on Units/Tech. TL2 had Tanks-5/Jets-5, but had to be less in overall units. Russians barely hung on, after losing Urals & his South/East sweep move. Japan got x3 nuked and surrendered first, in December 1945. Germany had Super Jets + Super Tanks which were the last to lay down their swords at the Rhine. Would have taken me to Summer 1946 to get Berlin. What a grind of a win. Close game.

With my bottom rank, I can only go up :) Less games, more quality.

calcwerc (Axis) - Taifun (Allies). Taifun wins (again). I concede october 1940. Need to practice a lot more before I will get at Taifuns level!
Short game: Poland falls at first turn, attack on France on third (I remember). France heavy defended by lots of British garrisons, AA and all aircraft, and despite early attack Paris falls in August, and one of the Panzer corps are lost in the process (I hoped for no later than May, with no losses). Because i thought he had left all of French Northern Africa undefended, i go on war with France to punish him after fall of Paris. BIG gamebreaking mistake, which makes my timeplan for Barbarossa impossible. Meanwhile Japan ok (but not overly good) progress, but also here he manages at one point to cut off rails in Northern China, thus staggering supply for Southern offensives. He stops also all convoys from Norway, even after the convoys are redirected to Oslo. Without naval bomber this is difficult to counter.
Great gameplay by Taifun, very recommended for those out there who seeks a real challenge! I learned a lot of both games, although they ended early.

Many Thanks calcwerc for your time and serious approach!
The "NO VICHY" decision is always a tricky decision that must be seriously meditated by the Axis player.
