Were there any troops still on that AP at Noumea?

Poor ship for only supply transport. I suspect it had already unloaded the troops and was still unloading supplies. Couldn't be evacuation - none of the French starting units at Noumea are worthy of an AP of that size.

That is what I meant, it might still have supplies...no other reason for it not disbanding into port after the first attack.

Those APs that can become APAs in March 1943 are precious and should have fled at flank speed rather than stick around the area for another attack. Disbanding in port would only help if it was not discovered there. A bonus for you to sink it. [:)]

Edit: Went back and looked - I was thinking aircraft sank the AP but it was a sub, and the two attacks were probably during the same turn, so the opportunity for it to flee wasn't there. An AP like that should have had a strong ASW escort.
Were you suggesting that a damaged ship with supplies on board will not auto-disband into the port while one that has unloaded will do so? If that is how it works, I learned something.

I think that is the case...although it might be the unloading status that prevents it or it could be fires?. Ships with supplies are very hard to extinguish the flames. Not really sure but I have noticed it many times...

Of course you can manually. Unless it is size 4+ you usually burn up though. Can't be pierside or in a shipyard though.

You can? Then maybe you can't go into other than Readiness repairs with fires burning??

Invasion Palembang goes well, Allies have moved parts of engineering units there...attack tomorrow.

Rabaul attack removes fort to 0, and is 2-1. Will take the base tomorrow. Several USN task forces, at least two, show up at Fenri Island close by and disband into port.

Sink an little Dutch transport off Perth.

Daytime slugfest at Manus!

This task force was light ammo and got mauled...likely two CLs will sink and a destroyer...

The Allied force went on and sank three AMcs

Don't spot any carriers yet...but an Allied torpedo plane does spot our carriers south of Manus...

We get a decent first strike in
