Ancient Archive strat card, Mainframe AI in city

Hello, I stumbled upon stuff.

Ancient Archive strat card:
I play this 4 FP card often. It gives you full discovery & research of one tech. And then something like this happens:

I got guided RPG before I got RPG. Only after discovery & research of RPG tech I was able to make an RPG model. This is counterintuitive to me. If I am able to know the details of an advanced tech, I can build and field it. Example: The native americans did not need to develop and research blackpowder tech, they got their hands on the tech by the europeans and then built and maintained their own, like in The King Philips' War 1675.



Mainframe AI in city: I have this event chain in my capital. For 3 PP you can talk to it, opening an oratory roll that gets more difficult the more you use it. On success, you get a full discovery of a tech, but no research.

I got lucly and got VTOL engines, invested years into it and after finished research I got the same problems as with the above mentioned RPGs. I do not have propeller engines, so I now have to research those.

Suggestion: If I discover a tech that is advanced, I can build it. It should be possible to develop a model, nuild independent units, etc. The yeah, you know really REALLY stuff B, but nah, you cannot field it until A is frustrating.

I think than the best way to balance it its than you can't get a discovery/research from a tech who you don't have the pre-requisites, in this case, it should have give you any other tech besides heavy RPG as you don't have regular RPGs. Another example its than in one of my games I got 10MT fission missiles but I didn't even have missile launchers, neither nuclear energy or anything related.

I can somewhat support that idea. I still think a 4 FP investment should be more than 'you advance one accessible tech'.

For the missile tech you got: It would still be a big stress to your resources, that would be hundreds of machinery and radioactives to invest, but you would have it.

I would actually report this as a bug. If you got the Guided RPG tech, you should be able to design the unit without requiring the prerequisite.

I'm sure Vic is aware of the problem though, because he tried to fix this in the aircraft beta, but had to roll back on the fix, because it actually achieved the opposite. (It made you require researching ALL the plane engines before you could design a plane, instead of only one of them.)
