City based volunteers Austrian SS

Post by craigbear »

I was looking through the optional rules, and the following is given as an example; however, no matter how I examine the unit pools via filters, etc., I cannot seem to find this particular unit. A quote from the rule description is given below, but using the filter for City Volunteers, I cannot view this unit although all others can be seen in the reserve pool.

"At the start of a campaign, it is assumed that none of the units have been brought into the game yet (e.g.
the Austrian SS unit can be built for free the first time it is built in any campaign)."

Yes, there seems to be a bug with the CBV units in that the Slovak MIL and the Austrian SS are missing.

Edit: I think they can be found in the "future force pool". Try searching for CBV units with "units in game" instead.

Perhaps... I am at the end if game set up, just prior to the turn start. They may be in some schrodinger's cat state. Not in any forcepool yet noton the spiral. Won't be starting the turn till tomorrow, but a preliminary turn start with dow against Poland failed to reveal them... perhaps the point where they are added to the production spiral has not yet arrived.

Going back to the rules, they arrive on the spiral during the production step... so we shall see. They still ought to be in reserved till then... but I am yet unable to spot them, even filtered as described.

The Austrian and Slovak units are in the future German force pool (because German already owns Austria and Slovakia). The French CBV Units are in the French future force pool for the same reason. All the others are in the reserve pool.

I updated to the latest hot-fix... apparently, it added the CBV units to the reserve pool rather than future pools. The German units in question still do not show up using the filter... nor do the French: however, french CBV units do show up as available for production at 0 cost. The French units do not show up as reinforcements immediately as I presumed, but when built for 0 bp, they arrive according to their regular build times. The German CBV units (slovak and Austrian) do not show up as buildable, nor do they show up in the reserve or general force pools. This may be because I continued my original game... but does not explain why French CBV units from already owned cities can be viewed as buildable while German CVB cannot.

One other thing, the Japanese Nanking CVB Militia is buildable for 0 BP... however, when unit placement occurs, I cannot place it in Nanking as I am prompted that the city should already be controlled (which it is). That unit, as well, does not show up in the reserve pool (as do all other CVB units for Japan if any exist other that Nanking). I am wondering if the French builds I did will run into similar difficulty when their build cycle arrives.

Perhaps these problems arise because I am playing a game started before the hotfix.

No. The bugs are also present when you start a new game.

The Austrian and Slovak Militia showed up in the German forcepool, but when the turn got to German production, they had disappeared. Haven't tried to build the Nanking militia yet.

All the French CBV can be built for 0 BP during production, but none of them can be placed on map even though the cities are owned (same as Nanking). The cities are acting like they are enemy controlled and not allowing placement. I can not even see the German CBVs at all on any charts, even the force pool.

I just got to the point where the French CBV arrive, and they can't be placed. Same problem as you described for all CBV units.

I started a new game without CBV as it screws up the gearing limits with empty slots that could be filled with real units.

Like the rule and will certainly play it when implemented.

I am sure Shannon will fix it in due time.

This problem is still on with the hot patch 04.02.01.01, and 04.02.01.02

The unit shows up in the German force pool, and can be purchase for 0 bp, but at the following Reinforcement phase, a popup window states that it has no place to arrive, which is not true, Vienna is totally empty, as well as all surrounding hexes.

Until it gets patched I have been able to edit the CBV from the production track to the map and they seem to work ok. Waiting to see what happens if they get destroyed and are rebuilt but for the moment it has solved the issue.

I built it and I got a message that it could not be deployed but that was not true, the city was empty and controlled by me.

The game is with 4.2.1.2 from the beginning
