What does a shadow spy really do and who best to attach them too. Also I'm sure there are other shadow roles, just can't remember now, if there are then same questions about them also.

To your secret service advisor usually - so you can insert a spy team into a major. Usually this has high difficulty and needs the bonus.

They are one-shot items btw - they don't stay attached like advisors.

After you attach them to someone, they show up as a feat on the right side of the character's info sheet. I think they just give a one time boost to covert ops and (for the shadow diplomat) diplomacy.

I thought this was gonna be a thread about the mysterious shadow emperor from the lore actually.
