This doesn't mention the Allies reluctance to use them once developed - especially in Europe. That's because misfires could fall into German hands - gifting them with the technology. And what German Proximity Fuses would have done to the Strategic Bombing Campaign was too horrific to contemplate. Using them in The Pacific was more acceptable, since misfires would fall into the sea.
