WAV Files

Post by junk2drive »

Id like to have the sound file of passing fighter planes for my windows events.
When on main screen of Matrixgames if the ad banner has Uncommon Valour, the planes go by and you get the sound I want. Any way to get it as a wav?

Do you have uncommon valor? There are all the sounds files from that in it's directory for you to assign to all sorts of uses. Provided the designers and publishers don't object that is ;)

I'm not sure if the exact sound file you are looking for is there, Marc? you did the banner right?
I'm essentially graphically and history oriented, unfortunately to connect the two I have to do maths. I hate maths.

No i dont have UV but something might be on SPWAW. I dont want something too lenghthy as it will slow down whatever event you assign it to. The UV banner sound is just the right lenghth for say, Windows Shutdown, instead of MS music.
Can you tell I'm not 18, I dont know how to convert wmp or mp3's to wav's lol
I dont know how to chop a 3 minute song into a 5 second wav.

Just use your Windows Sound Recorder located in (on Win98 at least) Programs----> Accessories----> Entertainment ----> Sound Recorder.
Open the file and chop it up anyway you want. Make sure you save it under a different name, so you'll always have the original to play with.

It depends on the source file type. If it is a mpeg (mp3) file, a number of free programs (like cdex) can convert it into a wav. Once you have a wav file, you can edit with a free wav editor (like acid wave), cut n paste the portion you want to play into a file which you associate with the event.

Where to find the sw:
cdex - http://www.cdex.n3.net/
acid wave - http://www.polyhedric.com/software/ace/download.html
