About the research randomness...do you remember what happened to me in my allied game against you? 3 UK, 3 US and 2 Soviet techs did´t advanced a sigle day after the first tunn. And after the second, 2 USA techs had 0 day of advance (all those techs had 4 points invested)
Sometimes that 56% is devious.
Btw if the germans don´t manage to break the armor pocket, that can be a game over for the wehrmacht.

I did think about our games. I havent looked at research speed that much and I like it that it is a bit random. But I guess one can question how much. Not so fun to lose the game (which maybe you almost could) if for example the Axis get very quick resarch on subs and allies very slow on escorts or the other way around (maybe not as serious).

Yes I think most will get away but if not that would be bad. They can be rebuilt German economy very good but it would be costly.

November 7 1941

The Germans finally manage to establish a supplyline to the exhausted mech units. The Soviets got two of them though so 6 Axis mech units destroyed in a short period of time. On the rest of the front the Soviets advance where they can. There are some holes in the line as well as lot of divisions on the line. There is actually hope for a winter offensive in this game as divisions wont fare well in the winter.

In Norway Oslo is unoccupied so I try to press on a bit but without hope of really achieving anything.

A German army at 1280 gives a bit of hope for the future.

But the Atlantic suck. How are you supposed to catch up? 3 escorts in one turn again. Ah well maybe Germany not too strong but neither is the western allies for sure.

And as a followup I also got a pursuitcombat. I am not calling this the turning point as I still lost 11 convoys and 1 escort this turn but felt good nonetheless.

In the east not so much going on.

I feel pretty ok. Frontline a bit more to the west than what I am used to giving me some reteat space next summer and army size over 2000. But really not sure if it will be enough given the weakness of the west.

Also all 14 mech units still alive did not lose any I think.

But British 122 merchants not ok. I build and build but the number goes down. A bit slower now but still. Even USA build some now something I basically never do usually.

And another invasion. Now in Africa. Forces my retreat from Tobruk for now. At least when he surrenders he will not be given any spagetti in my prison camp. Only Herring and water.

And just so I understand this. Germany have lost 101 naval lets say 21 is surface so 80 subs. They cost like 7 each to repair so like 560 pts in total. And the have sunk Merchants for 2690 pp and escorts (29! never seen anything like it)thats another 1200 pps. and Germanys production is 1,5-2 times as good as Britains. I know you start with alot and alot was given from Norway and other countries but that outcome seems a bit too good for Germany or? I agree a lot of Britains production should go to mms and escorts but it is not a lot it is basically everything. At least 80% just some upgrades is going on the whole 1940-1941 seems not right :).

My understanding based on a post (haven't confirmed this in rules) is that it cost 25% of the production cost of a Naval unit per point to repair it. That is about 33 PP for a 1941 sub, so the cost for 80 points would be around 2600 PP. But it still does a lot of damage to the UK especially if they are driving the Merchant fleet level below the amount needed to move the UK cargo. Likewise for Escorts, once you lose the numbers needed to cover the possible convoy lanes the Germans can attack, things will snowball.

Correction, your right I'm wrong.
I confirmed the repair cost of 1 factor of a 1941 Sub is 7 PP.

Dang it, does the Geneva convention say prisoners must have spagetti? *Grumble* well no more than once per week [:)].
