Is there a logic behind faction forming / profiles of new leaders

Post by Dampfnudel »

Is there a logic behind faction forming / profiles of new leaders?

Factions often have combos like

merchant + x
mind + commerce
mind + heart

but never
fist + commerce

Is there anything I can do to increase the chance of specific factions to pop up?
I invest a lot to purge my government of people following unwanted profiles. But the factions that form are never the profiles I go for.
And newly recruited leaders also oppose my profiles.

Faction (dis)like is a major factor in Natural Relations point.
A bit of disagreement is no problem. The NRP will be high, the things that negatively impact current Relations will be few.

As far as dealing with Faction goes, I like to put each Profile into one of 3 classes:
- If they match my targeted Profile. That makes them a Government party by default
- If the Profile is one that supressed by my target Profile. If that is the case, I can take decisions they like every once in a while. As it is something that my primary will supress, it will not relevantly hinder me to make them happy.
- If the Profile is one that supresses my target Profile. That makes them inherently a opposition party.

I noticed that the creation of new leaders' profiles depends on your own government profiles.

Having extreme high profile values increases the chance that new leaders acquire this profil.
Also, factions will adapt to new profiles if the profile is high in your nation or many leaders of that faction favor it.

My tip: Get leaders after you developed a regime profile your desire. otherwise, you have many people who dislike your government and they are hard to get rid of.

I have practiced a bit and you can really "brainwash" and"purge" your nation so that only government supporting people exist and any newly created leader will do that too.

Well, your supporters are the only ones that go work for the government in high positions, which is a very natural development in a society with a strongly polarized government policy.

In the Soviet Union you practically had to a communist to get to a high rank, while communists and atheists have no chance to get to high office in the USA (whatever the conservatives are shouting [:D] )
