Great Britain surrender

Post by rarothl »

Playing against AI, Great Britain surrendered after sea lion & London & Manchester fell. They didn't move it's capitol & they gave up all it's ships , Malta, convoy routes, etc.
Is that what normally happens? Seemed pretty easy to accomplish.

Key word "AI", play top ELO players in the world, you'll have your hands full.
Slaps issued: 16 - Patton, Dana White, Batman, Samson. Medals/Salutes given: 6, warnings received: 11, suspensions served: 4, riots: 2.

1) Was this with the default 1939 campaign?

2) If so, was by any chance Canada and/or Australia already occupied by the Axis?

3) Did you disable any DECISION events such as the one for the UK to move its Government, DE 106?

4) Did you perhaps capture London and Manchester together on the same turn?

To answer your questions:
1] Yes the default 1939 campaign
2] Canada and Australia were not occupied by the Axis
3] No decision events were disabled (stock settings)
4] London, Manchester and Egypt all fell on the same turn in 1940.

That is interesting. I've pasted the exact script below so we can easily refer to it while discussing this.

It does require Sydney and Toronto to be in Allied hands, so I just want to confirm that both indeed were at that point?

The only other checks are for Canada and Australia to have joined the Allies, and for an Axis unit to be in either London or Manchester at the start of the next Allied turn.

Hi Rarothl,

If you took London, Manchester and Edinburgh exactly all on the same turn then it makes sense in this case for the UK to surrender as that would prevent the script Bill highlighted above from firing.

Conversely, if you don't take all 3 on the same turn, e.g. one turn you take London, then perhaps on a subsequent turn you take Manchester etc., then the AI would have moved its capital to either Canada or Australia.

Wow!
Lucked into that one!
So if you can pull it off, it sure is worth a try to capture those cities at the same time in order to get rid of England with all of its ships, etc.
I guess, one question is, do we want this to happen?

We do have a slightly different setting in the War in Europe game so we might switch it to that, and that should let the Decision fire in all circumstances before their third capital falls.
