[1.06.05] Does 'Research Bonus' have an effect?

Hi,

I am trying to map out how the research economy works, and I am unable to account for the 'Research Bonus'.

The log entry from the Military Research Council overview report shows:
146 BP received
126 BP available after applying the efficiency limit
44 Research Points gained
80 Research Bonus
39% Director Relation skill bonus
4 BP cost per Research Point

Doing some basic math, I have:
(BP available * Director Relation bonus) / Research Point cost = Research Points gained.

So all of the numbers above fit together as you would expect, except that the research bonus does not factor in anywhere. So, it appears that the research bonus is inert.


Also, I have a second question about research. It appears that surplus research and discovery points do not get rolled over to the next project or to another task. Is that the case? In which case, significant value in BP can be saved by micromanaging the BP task allocation from one turn to the next.


By the way, the forum is blocking me from embedding the screenshot, and it is also blocking me from using the actual numbers in the equation above.

And yes it is possible to mid-max. Not a bad idea to stop that.

Could probably be handled by translating the surplus research points into discovery points.

Was this just a visual thing or was the research bonus really not applied to the research?

What is the formula for the research bonus? I have an example here where I gained 50 points, but I dunno how they were calculated using the bonuses.
