The Musashi might pump out some but try to get her to a closer port - take one if you have to. [;)]

RE: 1-8-43 through 1-10-43
Even if you lose MUSASHI, I think that's a very good sequence for you. Lost count of how many Allied cruisers were sunk or in trouble, but it's a bunch. The FLAK losses were so low on that last Port Attack, I would keep hitting it until you're either critically low on sorties, or all the good stuff is sunk.
Keep us updated on Musashi, 30 hexes is a long way with that much FLT damage......

I've tried to be careful with my ships. It's too bad those DD TFs didn't go in first. I'm still not very experienced with long lasting CV TF operations. When the sorties start to get lower than 1/2 i get nervous.ORIGINAL: Q-Ball

Task forces break off...
My opponents were not real please with this encounter. I can't blame them. It seemed pretty one sided. I hand picked all the captains and all the ships make regular BB runs so their night experience is mid 70's to 80's. DD kikiuzuki's captain had a naval rating of 78 with an aggression rating of 88. I had worked on him by switching captain a lot for different ships going into action. Looks like he went right after them. I wonder how many of the torpedo hits were from this one destroyer. Fog of war and all that but i think that's the 13th BB i've sunk and 12th CA.

RE: Cap
Yes, I am.
Put your CAP low, layered, on a low percentage as well and maybe they won't get wasted. Keep moving fighters from front to back and let the enemy guess here they are. In fact, maybe keep them back and let the enemy sweep empty skies. Then move the fighters forward and surprise them.[X(]

RE: Cap
The moonlight was 89% ilum and the initial distance was 11,000 yards and yet you forces closed to 5,000 yards and hit his ships with more long lances then I have hit my opponents allied ships in my last PBEM contest from 1941- mid 44. I also hand picked captains to improve my chances of torpedo success but I was sadly disappointed over and over as my long lances missed
after several night surface battles. I hope I have better results when I play as the Japanese again.

i would have to say that i can't imagine anyone playing this game in a PBEM could have better luck than i have had so far.

You sink 2 DDs and 6 precious Allied tankers and complain?
Have you seen your mental professional lately?
Not just shorten the attack radius but if they are on a torpedo attack, send them in at 100 or 1,000 feet. If they are that low, the CAP may not attack them or have much of a chance. If your dive bombers are within range, then the enemy has a diliemma, does he not?

i wasn't complaining believe me. I'm just thinking of limiting port attacks and only going for task forces. When i can find them. It's pretty cool about the DDs. I thought hitting them with torpedoes is supposed to be very difficult. Maybe because the were escorting TKs they were easier to hit? my jill pilots are pretty well trained in both bombs and torpedoes and have lot's of experience. That's why i was asking about using lots of Graces for them when i get her.
RE: 2-1-43 through 2-7-43
It depends upon what is in the port as far as ships, defences, and fighters. Then again, you might run into a heavy CAP over a TF as well with lots of AAA.
Yes, DDs generally are harder to hit but it still can be done. Those two also don't have much AA available.
