Window Update/Can`t play the game

So Windows did an automatic update yesterday.. Tried playing, at first seemed normal but when it got to the Gary Grigsby - War in the Pacific Screen instead of quickly jumping to the menu it was stuck for a couple of minutes.. Finally when I got to the menu page, the point and click was not working (for example could not move the setting to PBEM). Has this happened to anybody else? Any ideas on how to fix. Thanks from a very frustrated player

One more reason to hate Windows 10. Every major update re-sets my graphical display parameters (specifically the size of the custom window), and I have to set them manually all over again. It's such a frequent exercise (2-3 times a year), that I even have a small Notepad file sitting on the desktop, which says how to restore things. Can't say for sure that's your problem here, but perhaps Seabee could get things working properly again.

Are you running in a window, or full screen? There are definitely Windows 10 issues that can be solved by going to windows-mode. If nothing else (assuming you were using full screen), it's a quick test to see if it makes the problem go away.

addind "-SingleCpuOrders -cpu3" to a command line params greatly improved the responsiveness for my WITPAE on Win 10 back in the day. Try it

Are you running in a window, or full screen? There are definitely Windows 10 issues that can be solved by going to windows-mode. If nothing else (assuming you were using full screen), it's a quick test to see if it makes the problem go away.

Also try setting the game to emulation of Win 7 or Vista. I think that is in the Control Panel where the programs are listed.

I didn't get with the last update but then I always play in a window one size less than the native size of the monitor. I run with this and no don't use any compatibility settings.

Just search online for how to set Win 7 or Vista emulation for a program and there is bound to be illustrated instructions.

did help in that I was able to get into the game.. Problem though is a bit similar. I can not point to the map (I can, but there is no reaction to the clicks). So it is
kind of like having a hot girl get naked in front of you...but with a thin window in between. I can look, but can not touch what I want..

Does anybody think getting rid of Kapersky would help?

It sounds counter-intuitive, but maybe create a shortcut that does not use windows mode or custom resolutions. As you describe the problem, it sounds like the mouse isn't seeing your game window, so maybe if there was no window the mouse would just work. And if it does, that's the problem - something directly related to the mouse and it's interface with Windows (maybe a mouse driver incompatible with the latest Windows update)?

I will try... The mouse is working just fine for everything else, so I do not think it is a mouse issue.
