All resource production halted .. ?

The tooltip message shows

"Governor modifies {metal} {food} with administration strain of -100%"

My empire is crumbling on turn 130 - what does that mean exactly?

Ok read the manual haha-
It seems my resources are too far from the capital and need a new zone.
If anyone runs into this you can see it on page 171

That's right - when a zone gets too big and resources are to spread out geographically, administrative strain climbs. I've never heard of anyone getting to 100% however - nicely done!! [;)]

Other more experienced folks may have better suggestions, but my first inclination would be to split the massive zone into two or more smaller zones. I'm not sure how much of a nightmare it will be to create several zones at once - it's difficult enough getting zones off the ground one at a time.

With that said - how many zones is normal late in the game?
I was running with 4 - obviously it needs to be much more.
Is 15 too many? I am not sure how to divide the zones up now.

Good question - I suspect that's very situation dependent.
I've only gotten that far once in a four-way human player game. At about round 120 or so I had 8 if I recall correctly. Your situation may be very different.

You mean you don't know how to do it mechanically - what buttons to click etc...
or you're not sure the best strategic approach to do it?

Thank you for all the replies :)

I meant strategic approach so I do not get overloaded with zones.

I broke up a few more zones just now before my next turn and repainted some.

I only have 2 assets that I needed to close. They were so far away from any city I cannot use them. I could not make it work to get a city close enough to create a new zone around them.

It is much easier early in the game to build cities and get them up in support never tried late game cause never gotten that far think farthest I have ever played before reboot is 100 turns. Keep rebooting for updates LOL.
