It's a quiet turn in China. I concentrate on moving units into position for an attack on Changsha rather than make any attacks this turn.

It's a quiet time for Germany too. I will use this time to try and look at what I need to do in terms of building up for the attack in the west and also research required.

The Germans start moving units west and spend their points on researching advanced fighters and reinforcing their battered u-boat arm

No losses this turn which is nice. I attacked a British submarine off Heligoland and although it dived, it obviously couldn't hurt my convoys.

I am asked if I want to complete Graf Zeppelin for 200 points. That would be a big fat NO. I am also asked if I want Graziani in Libya or Ethiopia. I say No i.e. he arrives in Libya.

The Chinese attack my garrison northwest of Hengyang - forcing it back with losses. They will pay for such impudence!.... but not this turn

Not much to report this turn. The Italian reinforce while the Japanese and Germans spend on research.

There was some partisan activity in China which was annoying....

I say YES to annexing Lithuania

I moved a garrison out of Amoy and the very next turn the Chinese partisans took it!. That means an unwanted diversion....

Meanwhile Hengyang falls and its onto Kweilin next.

At times like this I feel that playing out an attack on France and the Low Countries would be sensible. But never mind, we'll just give it a go and see what happens. I think I may need to start buying units though.....

Interesting to see the different approaches AllenK and I are taking to some of the decisions.

This turn I see that Singapore defences are being strengthened - something I said No to. I also see that Britain is spending points on diplomacy - they have a swing in their favour in Spain.....

I've said NO to Norway, although am concerned that may be a mistake. I just think 100 points is a lot at this stage of the game....

Japan

I've hit the maximum research I can carry out. Only Logistics is close to completing so I won't be able to do anything in this dept. for a while.

I feel I am lacking in units, but have no real feel for how many are required. As there is no research available I upgrade some naval units and purchase a maritime bomber unit.

15th March 1940

My turn was poorly executed. I thought I could start making a march on Kweilin but my units couldn't move anywhere... So I headed back north to the Chinese corps west of Changsha.

Unfortunately this failed to destroy the unit...

The costly loss of Amoy is really irritating. 34th Army not only failed to dislodge the partisans, but took a loss too [&:]. I've brought in some battleships and aircraft carriers to bolster my next attack.

Italy

I've really got no idea what to do with the Italians... Keeping them out of the way sounds favourite. I've tried to concentrate on the navy when it comes to research, but....

Germany

I've tried to beef up the German Research as much as I can. But at some point I am actually going to need some more units presumably.....

I think I will concentrate on ensuring what I have is at full strength and up to date and see how the attack in the west goes.

12 April 1940

I am asked if I want to spend 100 points on making Denmark a protectorate.... er no thanks..

It's another really disappointing turn in China. The partisans appear to be better than any Chinese army and I can't seem to move many of my units where I want them.

So I launch a partially successful attack on a Chinese corps west of Changsha and otherwise content myself with ensuring my units are as up to date as possible.

Given the problems I'm having with partisans I say a very big YES to this...

At last I've got rid of that annoying partisan in Amoy. Took an army and mechanised unit to do so.... What a pain.... I once again fail to destroy a Chinese corps and it retreats.... I feel my campaign is not going well at the moment....

The first part wasn't too bad - albeit I've probably used up too many tanks and am not in position to move out.

As was to be perhaps expected for a first time effort, the Belgian attack was pretty poor.... I also think I've not upgraded my aircraft because the losses are horrendous...
