artillery

Post by fulcrum28 »

If I set up a plan attack and artillery is allocated as support unit, it contributes S/2 strength.
If I add the artillery unit as direct fire/attack to the already planned attack, it should contribute full strength (S) right?
My question is the direct fire applies "before" the planned assault right? so that it mimics a RL tactical situation that requires a preparatory artillery fire, is that correct?

The drawback of direct artillery fire is that it only fires once a turn, but as support it can fire several times?

Thank you in advance for replies.

Units used to support cooperative units will use 5 supply per combat or combat round. Units assigned to one combat will use 10 supply for the combat. So if an artillery unit supports several combats it could conceivably run through all of it's supply in one round of a turn leaving it with 1% before the turn is even 20% finished. Not seen it happen but cooperative support can really suck the supply out of a ranged unit.

thank you for info.
Btw, the direct fire (not support, just assignment to a bombardment) applies "before" the planned assault right? so that it mimics a RL tactical situation that requires a preparatory artillery fire, is that correct?

Right. Bombardment which includes any air support is supposed to take place before anti armor and anti personnel combat. 13. All Battles Are Resolved

Some of 13 is replaced by 19.2. Notes On Combat Resolution
