Task Force Numbers are Missing

Post by Capt Cliff »

I recently noticed that I am missing some TF numbers. If I open the task force list TF 1 through7, 9 through 12, and a whole bunch more are missing!! They are not in the off map TF's either. Anyone else seen this?

Oh yes, have you also looked at the other side which may be using those missing TF numbers? [&:][;)]

Name your own TFs so you know what they are doing, where they are going, and so on.

The TFs you create keep their numbers, even if you disband some of them.

For example, create six TF : TF 1 through 6.
Disband TF2 and TF4.
TF3, 5 and 6 won’t change their name, so you will have TF1, TF3, TF5 and TF6.
The next TF you’ll create will take the number 2.

No, this is just some subtle Intel: TF1 at game start is KB. If you suddenly get TF1, you know that KB disbanded for some reason - probably to do upgrades. And a sudden big gap in TF numbering might indicate the enemy has formed TFs for an invasion or major raid.

You can also mess up with your opponent by creating a zillion TFs to dock somewhere and deny the numbers to him. Let him be annoyed with running 4-digit_labeled TFs [:D]

I've gotten into the habit of disbanding the KB early in the game just for this reason. Even though I play the AI I figure its good practice. Besides it makes no difference when its reformed, auto-select of the commander will just give you Nagumo back.
