The display tends to be "garish," but workable. However, the tactical AI is really something and makes few, if any blunders, and completely blows away every John Tiller game in this regard.
"Tons of time figuring them out." That is the truth. I usually have to relearn the game after a hiatus playing. But that is common of a few of the more complex games. Again, at $10 for Battles in Italy right now, I'd personally buy it in a minute.
