Nope.

Vic once made a poll. While Navy score slightly higher then airforce, he decided to go for airforce first. Navy should still be on the list. And a new poll was planned.

While Air Force was a pleasant surprise, I think navies are likely going to be a longer-term, DLC-sized feature.

I don't think I'd play with navies very often. It's challenging already protecting borders, taking away the protection of a lake would make things even more tricky. Plus I get the impression water is supposed to be on the rare side whereas an air force is plausible even in a thin atmosphere. And I have a mental image of sea monsters now...

Sea monsters would be scary! Tthe main reason SE worlds can currently have only so much water is exactly because of the absence of naval features. There'd be no way to cross an ocean between continents until it's added in.

I think that navies, worlds with far more water (perhaps even entirely pelagic worlds), and sea life up to and including full on sea monsters are all things I would absolutely love to see in a major update in the future. I don't expect it to come out tomorrow, but some time during 2021 feels not unreasonable to me. Most, if not all, of the higher priority changes on my mind are relatively simple changes to numerical values and/or formulas. Things like base design which have been brought up a thousand times on this forum already.

Considering mankind sailed millennium before flight, it seems a logical addition. Especially for supply, but that is all more complicated most likely. It seems air is quite beta from my first playthrough and I don't see the AI using it. The design alone, no one seems to be suitable and the cost of even using them seems enormous. The design is a PIA quite frankly and I have no idea why what things contribute to what. I don't mean to be a downer, the game is awesome and an amazing amount of work went into it. I enjoy it thoroughly.

I would pay for a decent Navy DLC.
Of course, I will pay for any DLC for this game. [:)]

The comment about the AI using air caught my attention. I notice it building tons of air bases but haven't been attack once...

It's true the use of boats predates planes on earth, but thankfully the fauna in earth oceans is a lot less ominous than the sorts of things the game throws at you. Actually one of the first things to come to mind after hearing about an air option was my planes getting attacked by pterodactyls / mothra.

Naval invasions are a logisticians nightmare. The closest equivalent would be a rail-line, except you got no road to bring in construction materials for the end station. And without that one, you basically got the capacity of a Air-bridge.
Any disruption of the supply line and you de-facto have a encirceled invasion force.

Usually you have to invade at ports (making you predictable) or you just threw your armies into a "no supply" sutiation and loose them 100%.

Back on D-Day the allies had no chance of invading, securing and repairing any Harbor in the initial invasion, so the went for everywhere else and brought their own, temporary, floating ports:

And those still were only a stopgap until they got themself some proper french harbours.

And this is Shadow Empires. You can bet the supply lines will mater.

Absolutely that. I said so many times before, when people asked for water planets.

Hmm, maybe you could cross an ocean without a navy by using paratroopers or air transport, but that feels like yet more logistical nightmares.

For capacity, nothing is quite as bad as air.
It has speed of delivery, but for bulk goods the preference is:
Ocean
Rail
Road
Air

And that is why we do not deliver ore via Boeing 747 ;) I've heard some day air cargo transport could be done more economically using blimps, but that would definitely be a lot slower. Maybe similar to ship speeds but still smaller scale.
