RE: Rising Sun, Falling Skies: BTSL Bigred vs John 3rd
After post #95, Roland Smoot was ordered into action with one DD(all the allies have in the area) against a big Jap CVTF. DD was posted at Hiva Oa. Mission was to give the slower ships in the area a chance to escape/evade. The DD Anderson will be awarded a presidential unit citation. Comander Smoot was not reported KIA so he may return later.

A look at the intel gathered from the action and note about the Haguro collision. Also note DD Anderson engaged the CVL at 16000yards. I will ask John if I got the hit(lucky shot). You never know what lurks down in those Islands. I would bet IJN used 25% ammo. Maybe John will come back.

RE: Rising Sun, Falling Skies: BTSL Bigred vs John 3rd
John 3rd has moved one KB to 3 hexes of Tahiti. Defended by a DD flotilla. looks like DD Gwin put every shell into a CV or CVL. All allied DDs later sunk by IJN air. The real story is where did the Jap BCs go? And the Shokaku is along way from a safe home port.

CV Operations
There have been two Operations going on involving the Japanese Carriers. The Gulf of Alaska and Tahiti Area have seen a good amount of action.
Gulf of Alaska
Centered around the new CVs Junyo and Hiyo, the Japanese in the north go on the attack for three days and do reasonably well. A total of 4 AK, 1 KV, 1 TK, and an ACM are sunk for NO LOSSES to the aerial contingent. By the 4th of May, the CVs turn about head for home...
Tahiti Area
A Carrier Strike Force (4 CV, 2 CVL, and 2 CAV) goes on the rampage in this region finding a target rich environment. The Raid begins April 28 and wraps on the 3rd of May. The pickings here are much better. We'll do a day by day synopsis:
4-28 DD Benham and AO Neosho are hit and probably sunk.
4-29 Strikes and Surface TFs account for a KV, DD Anderson, and an AE.
4-30 Nothing
5-01 DD's Gwin, Case, and Conyngham plus a PC, TK, and AK are sunk. DD Jervis is damaged.
5-02 DD Cushing is sunk by Surface Action as well as a PC and AKL. Tahiti's Port is hit by 85 Zero and 88 Kate hitting an AP and AGP while downing nearly all of 12 Fighters on CAP.
5-03 STF sinks an ACM
The Raid smashes a nice number of DDs and serves notice that this region is vulnerable. Totals: SUNK--6 DD, 1 AO, 1 KV, an AE, 2 PC, 1 TK, 1 AK, 1 AKL, and an ACM. DAMAGE--1 DD, an AG, and an AGP.

Just read the actual RULEBOOK and it says on Page 26, that PBEM games cannot be shifted in Turn Speed. Is this wrong?? I just wrote on this in the War Room thread...

42-5-19:
Allies were able to slip the 66th corp of the chinese central reserve into Myti before the Guards showed up. In NoPac the japs have isolated Dutch Harbor which is currently under seige. An IJN CVTF with 4CV and 4CVL is actively roaming around the SoPac. IJN recon subs are used in conjuction with these CVTFs to scout Transport TF locations to insure no passage to AUS or into SoPac. Same type of IJN CVTF is used in Indian/Bengal. It appears John3rd has three large CVTFs. One each for NOPac, Sopac, and IO/Bengal. It appears his study of the pre war treaties has given him insight into a better CV defense setup utilizing BTSL.
At Myti currently the allies are having success with CAP traps Based out of India. I expect this to change as John builds up the area.
