Annus horribilis

Well, it's almost over. I mean the asteroid should be hitting us anytime soon before midnight.

So long

You might think about getting used to these kinds of things. Alien invasion might be pretty cool, I'm morbid enough to handle it, probably too old to survive it though.

It depends upon ho pretty they are. [;)] Those aliens might wear you out though.

The fires on the west coast. The hurricanes on the south and east coast. The typhoons in the western Pacific. No shortage of snow in the northeast. I didn't hear much about Tornadoes in 2020.
The US is such a beautiful country. It's kinda dangerous weather-wise though.

Central Ontario is likely one of the safest places on the planet. We don't deal with earthquakes of volcanoes either.
There has to be something wrong with the region I live in, but in 60 years, I haven't seen it. Business taxes are nasty in town. The rent situation sucks too. We have a large population of seniors. Our one major export is coffins. Northern Casket makes em for most of the province. People come here to die.

Less than 24 hours left in 2020. I won't miss it.
I'm trying to think of 'good' things that have happened to me this year.
Nope, can't think of any.
Plenty of average, no good though.
Built a lot of models while stuck in the house.
I'm hoping to play a lot of wargames in 2021.
I'm running out of space for the models [:)]
Wargame, 05% of the time.
Play with Barbies 05% of the time.
Play with Legos 10% of the time.
Build models 20% of the time
Shopping 60% of the time.
Exlains why I buy em more than I play em.

As long as you get to see the next year, then that is a 'good' thing that happened to you this year.

It is like pulling a pin on a hand grenade and dropping it in your own foxhole, it could ruin your hole day. [;)]

I couldn't figure out how to post the image alone, but the link says it all:

2020 was the year I met a world full of heroes. The people who took care of my 96 year old mother at the nursing home. The crew that stocked the food at my grocery store. The Chinese family that fed me great restaurant meals even though their relatives were back at ground zero. Three percent of our species didn't die, because we all sacrificed. The virus is just another sh1tstorm that we beat. Challenges can be a demanding kick in the pants, but we met this one head on. Happy New Year!

Good posts regarding a challenging year for many.

There's a quote from a book still in the "Top 10" in our culture that I need to come back to regarding years like 2020:

"During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them."

Okay, now that's a year that I will gladly miss!

I could say the same, but this happens when there is a war or something similar...

"Oh dad... so you were a God-damned cook?"

A Hero (courageous person) can be described as someone who goes into a burning building or any dangerous place even though they are afraid of the danger. Think of the medical people who kept going back to work . . .

My mother was born in 1940 and died in 2020. So in general 2020 kind of stunk. Seen better years. Hoping for a good to better 2021...and beyond...?

You mother live for 79-80 years which is not bad amount of time. My father died a week after his 54th birthday - I was 16 years old at the time.

My father died on Christmas Eve at age 53. That's the same age I am now. This past Christmas Eve was full of reflection.
