Not necessarily a good idea here. The replacements will come in unready. As you are receiving daily attacks, those unready replacements will probably be destroyed before they get a chance to become ready.

If you are confident they won't face an immediate attack upon arrival, then maybe turn on replacements.

I have 7 squadrons of p40s in Australia, plus the Saratoga's fighters.

I finally reorganized my pilot pools, and now all 7 P40 squadrons have at least 60 skill Air pilots in them. Their average skill was probably in the 40's prior to today. All those low skill pilots (but some of my highest experience pilots) are now back in the States in training programs.

I have tried to avoid skirmishing the Zeroes...and in general will continue to do that saving them for rear area denial and spot defense in heavy numbers. I need their defense and experience to increase.

Lots of micromanagement, but absolutely a must do.

I like PDU Off, for that very reason. And the fact it slows the game somewhat.

But I’m still glad Tracker makes it easier anyway.

Only if you keep on insisting drawing out planes to replenish your units. Turn replacements off and for most models, it doesn't take long to have a healthy pool number.[;)]

It is pretty much a Japanese turn...the damaged destroyers are hunted down by IJN cruisers and dispatched, but the Pensacola flank speed escaped...

Meanwhile Canton Island is heavily bombarded and invaded by a brigade. Although I didn't spot it, the KB is probably lurking in the area too.

A few dogfights, some bombing, and some road blockers in China routed or surrendered, when the IJA decides to test the 18th British Division in the fields north of Chittagong...

The 18th was spoiling for a fight, having been derailed by guerillas less than 45 miles from Chittagong, and the remnants of that fight the 19th Division and 63 Brigade wanted revenge...while over the roads the 7th Hussars driving Stuarts surged onto the battlefield to absolutely surprise the IJA.

The IJA doesn't attack near Bundaberg...and the 34th Yank Regiment reinforces. More artillery arriving tomorrow.

I think I am being very frugal in that respect. I think I have only upgraded one US and one British unit, and drawn replacements on only units in Australia.

Nope, when the guerrilla's derailed the train tracks stopping the 18th Div one short of Chittagong, I sent Japan an email describing the problem including the name of the unit, that it was now stuck unpacking in SR mode, and its exact assault value.

Now, he did feel bad about shock attacking and taking Chittagong, and told me can't control himself when Commonwealth troops are in the open, since I refused to redo the turn...and perhaps he chose to shock attack because that is what he would have done...but rather I think he thought: lets win India.

that the 18th would still be in SR mode unpacking, that he admitted to not being able to control himself when he sees Commonwealth troops in the open...that follow up shock attacks has been his MO for the entire game.

The Hussars showing up, that was a surprise.

Not to mention significant dispersion of force. Yes the Allies are weak early on and this is a Scenario 2 style game, but attacking both in India, the two coasts of Australia, and all the other ops at the same time is reckless.

Flying Tigers do good work near Changsha sweeping LRCap fighters, and one of the destroyers is still alive, but spotted and with 72% system damage.

That task force those destroyers caught and savaged was obviously very big and might have had multiple targets judging by what landed at Canton today.

Thanks for the explanation, too bad for him then. I understand the shock attack then, but it was a gamble and he lost.[:)]

I have had the feeling he was a bit adventurous attacking all around, and too early in India. The outcomes of the fights in India and Oz might confirm that. You don’t invade both at the same time, when you still have not finished the conquest of the DEI.

Stuarts, early on, are like Tigers in Tunisia.

We shall attempt to retake Chittagong, and develop Diamond Harbor which seems to me a likely place for the IJ to strike next.

The 8th Marine Regiment will arrive on map headed for Bombay today, and the 2nd Marine Rgt in four more days...they will nominally all head for Diamond Harbor.

All of the CW reinforcements flowing into Karachi will head for Diamond Harbor too...

If Japan invades at Viz or even further west, I will have time to rejigger the defenses.

From what I can tell of the IJN most of the transports are Rangoon or further south fetching supplies...feeding Rangoon is always a tough proposition, and even tougher when the Allies control Singapore.

Nathan's MO in India was shock attacks followed by more shock attacks against me. The experience of Indian troops is very poor to start with until the '42 infantry comes in, very weak. He knows that and will try crush them for the first 6 months or so.
