The Maus that Roared (off map Artillery?)

Post by Paul Johnson »

I have tried to use the off map artillery in 'The Maus that Roared' but Icannot seem to find any unit that is in contact with it. What do I need to do to use it?

But sometimes he has to wait for the battery access...

The artillery assumptions are that what is onboard is what is organic to your Btn/Rgmt sized command. That is gernerally light artillery and mortars. Support assigned from higher command is offboard, and often serving more than one unit, plus radios were notoriously bad.

We will be looking at the point values for artillery, as they are possibly a bit high, same with Aircraft...

For me it took a couple turn before the arty was in contact. Of course, the arty support was almost unnecessary as that sole complete Maus racked up 32 kills before it ran out of ammo Image and for some reason the ammo truck didn't reload it even though they spent several turns next to each other.

Thank for your help! You pointed me in the right direction. It turns out that all I had to do was set the foward observers to 'defend' at which point they were instantly placed in contact with their artillery. Which really makes sense when I took time to think about it. It's kinda hard to use that big ol' radio if you haven't unpacked it!!!

I really like that Maus. All it has to do is stay back and blast everything that comes it's way and use the other Maus as a decoy to absorb the Soviwet shots. When I first ran it as the Germans, the Maus with a 20 mm gun took 16 direct hits from the JS 2's & SU before blowing up.

what is strange is that the AI dared to fire at such a monster Image
none of my mouses was ever fired at in this scen... maybe because of opportunity fire Image
JS-III are very hard to break though, even with 128mm gun Image
