RE: Update option not working

Post by wobbleguts »

Please read the threads above to understand my complaint. T want the button to check if I am running the latest stable version, inform me if I am and download the newer stable version if I'm not. I don't want the beta version and don't expect or want the check for update button to look for anything beta.

The simple fact is the check for update button doesn't work. It comes back with a server error.

well, my suggestion is not BS, even if you feel like it is. You simply made the download of the files too complicated when it's a simple thing.

The only thing you are right in, is that the frigging button should always warn that you are updated (to the newest non-beta version), instead of showing an error message.

But that is pretty less than also:

- Having to register and have an own dropbox account, uploading and downloading files from it in a strange procedure.
- The game not updating to the latest version (the reason being because it's a beta).

Sorry If my post caused offense. Didn't mean to and have edited it. I'm not getting sour, just frustrated.

You say

the frigging button should always warn that you are updated (to the newest non-beta version), instead of showing an error message.

Yes, that is absolutely half my point, but it should also download the latest STABLE version if one is available. It can't do either of these most of the time because there is a matrix server error. People have scoffed that I shouldn't expect a stable game update every day etc, but they have missed the point again. I do not expect to download stable updates frequently, I just want the ability to check for one quickly, using the 2nd button on the main game screen. I can't because of a Matrix server issue and had to do the upgrade manually using dropbox etc.

Was the manual upgrade difficult? Not for me, but I'm computer savvy. Most people would just prefer to press that big button on the main screen.

You also say

The game not updating to the latest version (the reason being because it's a beta).

This is the main reason I get so frustrated. Numerous people have said this. To re-cap, I don't want the beta version and the check for update button isn't even supposed to check for beta versions. I never expected it to. It is supposed to check the matrix server to see if there is a new stable version. It can't do this because of a Matrix server issue.

The whole beta thing is completely irrelevant to this problem. It has nothing to do with it.

I didn't have to post this problem. I used the work around and it worked for me so I was OK. Someone on the forum suggested I post it here so I did. I Thought it was a bad look for Matrix that this button on the main screen didn't work.

I will not post on this anymore. The problem remains and is below. It is v v simple.

The 2nd button on the main screen is supposed to connect to the Matrix server, check if there's a new STABLE version and if there is one (rare, but it does happen) download it. This doesn't work because of a Matrix server issue. You cannot connect to the server. Nothing to do with beta releases whatsoever or the fact an update isn't available. The update button doesn't work because there is a Matrix server error !

There is nothing which anyone in this forum can do about that. Not even Steve (the programmer of this game). So I suggest that you contact Matrix customer support.
