Manpower from scrapped units should return to recruit pool

Post by Kaspar »

Now they just rejoin the population of the zone. Just because I want to scrap my obsolete tanks, doesn't mean that I don't have jobs for the crew.

Even better would be if the experience of the crew could still be preserved, when they enter the recruit pool.

I think the worry here is that scrapping could be used as a means of rapid redeployment, especially to a threatened SHQ. Going to recruits allows the manpower to be used to immediately raise a formation, whereas to population you have to re-recruit them, nullifying the potential exploit.

If that is a problem the game could put them into the logistic pipeline, requiring them to travel to the SHQ the same way reinforcements travel to the formations. Or even turning them into real travelling units who move back to the SHQ, taking a hike on the strategic movement when there is spare capacity.

For models already in the SHQ the issue mentioned isn't really a problem.

Then simply limit it to units that were already in the SHQ to begin with. No exploit that way.

Recruits currently do have to use the Logistics network and they are rather heavy (5 per 100 men).

But if that does not work, simply limit it to only work that way for units already in the SHQ. As that is where most of the Subunit disbanding happens.

I agree this would be a good addition. Adding it to my lists.
