Origins of TOS

Post by Redclaw »

Did this game start out as an old shareware DOS-based game that was mostly a mech designer that gradually added on gameplay? I remember downloading that game and designing probably 100 mechs or more. I tried the gameplay a couple of times, but never really got the hang of it. I remember the author running into FASA's copyright lawyers and having to change a lot of stuff (at least in name).

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Is TOS the evolution of that product?

I think you found that game.

*FASA has never said anything about the game to my knowledge.

No. I don't think so. TOS is an evolution of Mechforce by Ralph Reed. He also ran into problems with FASA. It was an amiga game. I think you are talking about Mechwar by Klaus Breuer. It had a different turn system and was never finished.
