Any chance of a patch with a few new war cards?

VR designs has been reinforced with designer Cameron Harris and the result is a revolutionary new operational war game 'Barbarossa' that plays like none other. It blends an advanced counter pushing engine with deep narrative, people management and in-depth semi-randomized decision systems.

Any chance of a patch with a few new war cards?

Post by RyanCrierie »

Basically, the game is really nice; but it's a bit limited.

I think there need to be a few "alternate history" war cards that can be played for a massive loss of VP points:

Soviet Union

Obligatory: "Stalin is not Paranoid and doesn't purge everyone in 1937-1938" card -- so that the Soviet Player can actually mount useful offensive actions during the Summer. You'd have to playtest it to find the right balance; the Blitzkrieg of Summer 1941 was due to a lot of factors such as better C3I by the Germans.

There may be more ideas others can think up.

Hi Ryan,

If Stalin didn't purge his officer Corps in '37 & '38 Barbarossa would, in all likelihood, have been a fizzer. The Germans were massively outnumbered and with even half decent Soviet leadership and an absence of 'decision paralysis' Moscow wouldn't have a lot to worry about.

Cheers,
Cameron

A very interesting alternative ipotetical scenario could be " Operation Burian " the soviet pre-emptive attack planned for september 1940 and little known in western sources!

Hi Ernie,
The book is in Russian, you must open a Google translate page, copy and paste the link of the index page and you had a good English translation !

I have often wondered about this scenario.

Would your ordinary Ivan have fought as tenaciously as he did in real life if the USSR had been the aggressor; or were the finer details of international relations too remote for him to give a damn?
