RE: Bacon Mod + RetreatUE + Das Chrome
you need bacon 1.81r for windows 10 2004 update. See here:

RE: Bacon Mod + RetreatUE + Das Chrome
Hey, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the 181r version did not work either. At first neither download was going through, because of windows antivirus. I just went ahead and turned it off while I downloaded and tested. Unfortunately once the exe was downloaded and I got everything set up, I still ran into the same problem as before. Slightly different, because at least it seemed like the game was trying to load up. Still just one Bacon mod popup, but then the regular DWU loading popup came up. After a minute or so, the edges of the screen seemed to load in parts of the UI but then it just closed itself. Didn't even make it to the main menu. Like I said, everything was working fine before the update, even without the 181r update. I feel like I've tried every trick out there, but no luck.

Try putting the DW.exe in the windows defender exclusion list.

RE: Bacon Mod + RetreatUE + Das Chrome
First of all, thanks for your help and patience, Retreat.
There's been some progress. I ended up deleting everything and reinstalling from scratch, including the game itself. This time it actually does open. Weirdly, there is still only one Bacon mod popup instead of the usual two, but I'm not sure if that's a significant detail. What I will say is that I now have two problems.
The first is that the resolution is all wrong. My monitor is 1920x1080, but the game screen is smaller. Maybe two thirds the size it should be. The main menu fills up the full screen, but once I start a game, it goes down to the smaller size. I've tried manually changing the ratio in startup.txt but there was no change.
The second problem is that I can't load up my old saves. I'm not sure how the system works, but I did name the new theme folder the same as it used to be, so I don't think there should be a problem. Obviously I'm missing something, but oh well. Restarting is no big deal.
And actually, I should mention that there is now a third problem which I hadn't realized before. Once I actually was able to start a new game and load it up, I started poking around the menus to see if I could fix the resolution from in game. What I found is that there is an error every time I try to open up anything related to my ships/bases. It's as if the files didn't exist, and yet the ships are there, Just doing their thing. I suspect that maybe it has something to do with the display, and that if I can fix that, then the ship designs, etc. will display as well.
But maybe it's just wishful thinking.....

Run as administrator. Also enable LAA. Just thinking... I had the error problem but I think it was the LAA not being enabled on the exe. Find a program on the web and enable LAA. Super simple.
Save game might be access to the save folder which defender may block. Try excluding the folder.
Resolution idk... Don't run in window mode if you are?

RE: Bacon Mod + RetreatUE + Das Chrome
Ok, hopefully this will be the last issue.
First off, I figured out what was going on with the saves. Apparently I had named the theme folder something other than I had before redownloading, so the old saves were looking for a theme that no longer existed. Changing the name back to EXACTLY what I had before (spaces) fixed that problem.
Secondly, your suggestion of enabling LAA (which I'd never heard of before) caused me to search through old threads to find out that the exact issue I was having with "out of bounds" errors was solved by this sort of program. Lo and behold, that problem seems to be gone as well.
Everything would be perfect... if only I was playing with my entire screen. I tried several old suggestions, and actually I wasn't running in windowed mode before. I had changed the numbers in the startup.txt but hadn't removed the apostrophes at the beginning of those lines. Anyway, I tried removing them to see if windowed mode might work, but no. Same problem.
I'm still looking through old forums, hoping to find an obscure answer. If I don't, well at least I can say that everything else works.

If you have Intel graphics try alt-ctrl-F11 in game. Select full screen.
Right click shortcut. Under "run" select maximize.
Or just try alt-enter.

RE: Bacon Mod + RetreatUE + Das Chrome
Actually my laptop came with 2 video cards - intel and nvidia. All games by default run on the nvidia card. I'll try switching to the intel later and see if that helps at all. The other two suggestions I had tried but no dice.
EDIT: I just tried it with the intel card. No difference. And I haven't found this problem on any forum. Closest I've found is people who want to play on larger screens. Still, I tried some of those solutions as well and have had no luck. As it stands, the game is perfectly playable, it's just annoying to have it that size. Anyway I can confidently say the problem lies with the 181r distantworlds.exe from the bacon mod. The base game exe runs normally and the 181 bacon exe fails to open at all. So unless you have any last ideas, I think I'll just have to cut my losses until (if?) Mr. Bacon makes another update to his excellent mod.

I don't know who PM, I love this pack mod even if I can't anymore use Bacon Mod because of a windows update.
Currently, I work on a Farscape mod, and I want to use some the ship sets for my Farscape's mod.
I wanted to know if I could have your permission to use your work, partially, modified, and who write in credits?
Best regards.

Did the 1.91r exe not work for you? I assum3ed everyone was able to play the Bacon mod again. My computer has the dreaded 2004 update scheduled for the 29th. If the mod stops working for me I'll try and fix it but ultimately will roll back the update if I have to.

RE: Bacon Mod + RetreatUE + Das Chrome
I not planned to use again the exe after got the error some months ago, thanks you very much !
RE: Bacon Mod + RetreatUE + Das Chrome
Does this still work for all the latest updates?
RE: Bacon Mod + RetreatUE + Das Chrome
Having a hard time with this. Getting crashes pretty much right away after starting a new game (400 stars, 6x6), here's the event viewer error:
Platform version: v4 Description The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
Don't seem to be able to post images, links or attachments yet, and the forum, considers the error code to be one of those for some reason.[:(]
I'm using the latest Bacon mod (says 1.81r on the pop up), and I did download the alternate file for windows 2004 update.
Just Bacon Mod alone (+GEM) seemed to work fine for 5 minutes, but then I got the Out of memory error.
I think I read somewhere on the forums that making the executable LAA could improve things, or is the BM already patched for that?
Also, error log seems to indicate that it's using Net version v4 - is it the latest one DW can use, or can I somehow make it see the later versions?
My specs: Win10 Pro with all current updates (2004), amd fx8300, 16gb of ram.
P.S. managed to attach the image with error.

RE: Bacon Mod + RetreatUE + Das Chrome
Sadly latest version of windows 10 + Bacon mod only and most recent bacon mod update for windows 2004 update causes crashes still.
Tried Admin mode, tried I believe every compatibility setting in the EXE available. Game cant save without erroring out, and will randomely crash after a few minutes in game.
I guess its better than the original EXE which would not load at all.
Good bye sweet bacon.

RE: Bacon Mod + RetreatUE + Das Chrome
I managed to fix the issue by using LAA enabler. Posted about it twice in Bacon mod topic, so I thought it was too much of me saying this, but yeah - it's stable with it (I did play Bacon Mod + RetreatUE + Das Chrome). I played a full game on 400 star map, about 10 hours, not a single crash.ORIGINAL: Journier

RE: Bacon Mod + RetreatUE + Das Chrome
thank you sir for pointing this out, ive been searching multiple forums, trying the LAA enabler now.
edit-
Bacon Mod works with the windows 10 update 2004 .exe and LAA enabler from techpowerup for .net.
Holy crap, literally hours of irritation over this lol.

RE: Bacon Mod + RetreatUE + Das Chrome
So new issue atliest for me, once i find the Shakturi or the refugee's if you will, and then the ancient guardians give me the free ships, my game camera zooms in on ancient guardians main planet, promptly drops to less than 1 fps, and I assume its due to the massive amount of fighters they have i mean it looks like thousands of fighters circling their planet and ships. This promptly causes game crash after a minute or so. I can get away from the area, by zooming out slowly, but the game definitely does not enjoy whatever occurs.
causes my game to crash 50% of the times ive tried it.

Hi, I'm getting memory errors after like 5-10 mins of gameplay. I followed the instructions and retried it like two times.
Anyone help? I've been stuck with this issue for awhile. I might switch back to Unleashed Extended II if I can't get this to work :/
