Bug in the form showing the subs combat force in surface engagement

Post by Joseignacio »

I have asked about a possible bug in the units included in a combat elsewhere, but here I want to report another bug.

The form tells me I have 39 points, so against 10 ships I should be doing 2X1D in the 39-50 chart .

The game however calculates right deducting 1 point each to my 2 subs fighting in surface, so I fight in the 29-38 column, making in truth X2D2A.

The game calculates well but shows the info wrongly, causing confusion. There seems to be some other cases where forms don't reflect the truth of what the computer applies, like sometimes in Production Planning.

Looking at your screen shot, I think the intention of this form is to simply show you which naval units have been included in the pursing combat, outlining basic naval strengths. MWIF isn't applying surface combat modifiers to the subs in that form, because the naval combat type is yet to be determined. Germany could choose a naval air combat instead.

Well, if the combat was naval air that datum would be unnecessary. When you need to sum up your surface force is in the surface combat.

I see BrianJH's point. In order to make an informed decision about what naval combat type you prefer, you want this info displayed now, before you choose, not later, not?

I still think if I select naval air I dont need to know how many surface points I have, and if I select surface, then the value is 39- 2 from subs. So I need 37 or no info.

The form shows generic strength for the units. It doesn't consider the naval combat type.

For example, if the combat chosen is Submarine, then the combat strength of the surface and air units would be effectively zero.
