missing usercamp.dat file

Post by Sabot Scott »

Hi to all and thank you for a great game. I was on a 12 step program to kick the SP series when you came out with this new version. I love it. I have one small problem. When I downloaded the "lite" version (18 hrs. @56K) I discovered that the original usercamp.dat file did not DL. I live for campaigns. Is there any way I can get this file without re-downloading? Thank you for any help and thanks again for years of enjoyment.

Hi Scott - did any zip files come in your Campaigns folder? if so you can only play 1 campaign at a time - check deep in the manual - it tells you how to do this - as of now some of us are having trouble with the Screaming Eagles campaing crashing after 3 battles. Awaiting a reply from the guys now. Hope this helps - I'll check back in a couple of hours to see if you made out ok Joe

You have it exactly right, BAR. Each campaign has to be loaded separately because of that stupid usercamp.dat file. Each campaign has its own.

Its a long story as to why it is this way, but it is the way SSI designed it.

Now I am strongly advocating a much better campaign system with a subsequent patch and I hope we'll get it.

Scott if you can't find those instructions, write me and I'll send them to you...Wild Bill

Thanks for the fast reponse. I had found the other campaigns and am playing Tunisia. Will the usercamp.dat files for these campaigns (Screaming Eagle, etc.) allow me to play a computer generated "random" campaign? Thanks again for the help. Scott

Thanks Wild Bill for the quick response. What if I want to play a "random" computer generated campaign and not one found in the campaign folder. Is there a seperate usercamp.dat file for this purpose? Thanks again for all 14+ months of work that went into this great game.
