Help - exclamation mark over base?

Post by Phoenix100 »

I wonder if I asked this before, several years ago, and I've now forgotten the answer. If so, sorry. But can anyone tell me why I have an exclamation mark over Adak, warning me of something or other? See the pic. Thanks.

The base needs supplies. I don't recall the threshold but that is the sum of it....GP

Thanks. But the window indicates supplies at 3239 as against a requirement for 2026, no?

Supplies are considered "short" if less than 3x the amount required. The exclamation point is just a heads up, because in a day or two you could REALLY be short.

It is week consumption, so you have supplies left for week and half, approximately.

You need to send supply there and soon.

And the colour matters - yellow is the warning when you are below 3X and red if you go below one week's worth.

Another red exclamation mark is when the base has a minimum garrison AV and your troops are below it. Yet another for overstacked airfields (too many units or aircraft will fragment operations).

The garrison one only appears for the turn when you have a -1VP event, partisans and stuff, and is absent otherwise

It isn't a "complete answer" because it is incorrect.

A yellow exclamation mark appears on the map whenever Supply at a base < Supplies Required x 2 (not 3), as your screenshot shows. Note, too, that the Supply value on the Base Information Screen appears in orange.

If Supply falls below Supplies Required, a red exclamation point will appear. In that case, the Supply value on the Base Information Screen appears in red.

That is all they mean. The exclamation points have nothing to do with garrisons, partisans, VP events, or anything else.

Also, my experience has been that the Supplies Required value represents the amount of supplies required to keep the base going at full efficiency for about a month, not a week or (even though the manual says otherwise on page 205) a day.

Aw, you are in for the rude awakening, mate )

Eg I have a red "!" right now over a completely empty base with zero (= 0) supply requirements. Surely it has a garrison reqs that are not fulfilled, surely it had a partisan attack this turn

One of the important things to note about the yellow exclamation point is you won't be able to fly missions with drop tanks from that base. That can be an inconvenience.

Now I got this at Cawnpoe. The red ex is not only at Cawnpore but a couple of other India places too. Supply looks more than 2x, and garrison is higher than required.
So what causes this one then ??
Lucknow got a yellow one and only thing I find on that base is Support 99 (in yellow) to Support req 102

Was any LCU in strategic mode passing through Cawnpore? It may have finised a leg of its journey in Cawnpore on the previous turn. Or maybe you shuffled several airgroups through Cawnpore?

Wow, well it's the early turns and I'm following Kulls spreadsheet. I had no action to/from Cawnpore, but a rail goes there so possibly troops have passed it during that first turn. No airgroups in or out according to Kull.
I had 1VP lost at Sialkot for garrison problem, shown in rapports. That city do indeed have red numbers at Garrison 18 / 20
India have a lot of yellow exclamation markings, and also some red numbers. Still many more like Cawnpore (like Dehli) have red exclamation on the map, but nothing red in their city cards.

I can find nothing in any rapports after the turn. Only that 1VP lost at Sialkot.

After next turn I checked again and without doing anything in Cawnpore the exclamation mark is gone. I guees you made the correct call. So much to learn and check out in this game.

Until you run the first turn, the game AI cannot update all the data that is being changed. Some of what you are seeing must be from the way the game starts before you work on the turn.
Also, supply requirements are averaged over a week of supply draw at the base, so they will be variable for a while as you shuffle units around. And small bases do not get supply every day so that may result in some yellow ! marks and then suddenly everything is OK. Bottom line - if the whole area of India is getting enough supply, the AI will eventually distribute it to where it is needed. You may have to shut off construction and unit replacements in some areas until India's supply production and shipments in can increase what is available.
