Question - Regular Campaign

Post by Jamminji »

Hi everyone,

Just wondering about the campaigns that come with WAW, like World War II Campaign at the top of the campaign screen. Are these campaigns linear, or do they branch off depending on how well you do? I see that after each battle you can choose what theater your next battle will be in. But does the particular battle in that theater change depending of the outcome of the previous battle?

Also I have a campaign called stalingrad about slot 10 I downloaded a custom campaign called staligrad verson 1.5 (I think) it is set up to use the same slot. Are these the same? Or should I move the old one before loading the new one? If so how do I move a campaign from one slot to another? Rename all the files? whew...

thanks,
jam

The way I understand it, is that the campaign generator and the WW2 campaign are not linear. All of the rest would be.

Campaigns are saved the same way as scenarios, ie, by slot number, just in a different folder. If you save a campaign to a slot that already has one in it, you will overwrite the existing one with the new one.

Look in Windows explorer at the campaign folder under SPWaW. There will be a ton of things there, battles and ucamp files, etc. Make sure that whatever you rename ALL of the things in the new campaign you do not use a number that is already existing. For example, the excellent Russian Steel campaign will default to slot 22 unless you rename each file inside of it to a different number.

For what it's worth, I will always download the new campaign to a temp folder and rename it there. Then copy it over to the campaign folder.

Hope this helps you.
