[Resolved] Soundtrack in C:MANO

Post by pclax »

Hello!

I want to disable or eliminate the soundtrack being played. I am using Version ...###714

So far:

I have deleted what I felt were the looping mp3 files that I thought were the soundtrack(s) at:
Command - Modern Operations, Sound folder

That did not work

I turned off the music in Game options; that did not work.

I turned off the sound in the launcher; that did not work. I looked for the music files associated with the launcher.

Thanks!

Hi

These settings are stored in the command.ini file usually found here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Command - Modern Operations\Config

You can open with a text editor and be sure GameMusic = False.

Thanks

Mike

HI pclax,

This sounds quite strange; turning off the music in the sound options should instantly stop any music playback from Command. Deleting the files alone may not stop playback until the game is restarted, however.

Without hearing it, it's difficult to tell whether this is actually coming from Command or something else. Which files did you delete? Are you able to listen to those files (using an ordinary media player program), and if so, is it the same music you're hearing?

Game Music = False

I have emptied (deleted) all of the music in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Command - Modern Operations\Sound\Music" and restarted several times. In the game UI, I have muted the music and unchecked it from playing. I have also turned off sound on the launcher, but I still get music. Before I deleted them, I was able to listen to those mp3s.

Hi Pat,

This is a strange one. The most likely option we can think of is that there is an instance of Command running in the background.

As an aside, there is no need to delete files from the computer. In this case it complicates resolving the issue--Steam automatically replaces missing files when doing updates.

1. Restart the computer. This is important, please don't skip it. It is important the computer is restarted, not shut down or put into hibernation.
2. Before opening the game, check the configuration file indicates GameMusic = False
3. Start the game and note at exactly which point the music starts; does it start when the launcher appears? when the splash screen appears? at the main menu? in the scenario map view?

Let us know how that goes!

1. I restored the music files from the recycle bin.
2. I restarted the machine.
3. I checked the command.ini file; music was set to false.
4. I launched the game. The popup with the gear in the upper left corner showed; no music started at loading, please wait ...; selected 'play'.
5. Game screen appears (the one with the choices showing what you can do); music is playing.
6. Checked task manager. Command is running and launcher is running.
7. Opened a game; use background music unchecked. music still playing.

New:
I checked the box and different music started playing. So, the music playing is none of the music in the folder although similar to Title.mp3.

Thanks,

Pat

By chance have you altered the GlobeLoop.mp4 video file that plays on load? If so, try loading C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Command - Modern Operations\Symbols\StartMenu\GlobeLoop.mp4 and see if the same music plays. If it does, there's your problem (modding a video file with sound where it should have none).

If that's not the issue, we may need to do a remote desktop session to figure out the cause. It's probably something simple, but very difficult to tell without seeing/hearing it.

Rory,

You figured it out! It was a modded splash screen and video (mp4). I have restored that directory to stock. I appreciate your patience and help.
