[Logged] Sparrow SHRM Missiles not locking onto targets

Phantoms on Northern CAP mission cannot engage Mig-23 floggers. Sparrows will not lock... No Directors or LOS apparently..... ?!

The difference is the AWG-12 vs the APQ-100 radar. Why exactly the APQ-100 isn't able to illuminate isn't immediately apparent as sensor 206 (apq-100)is an authorized director for the weapon and target appears on the surface to be in range and los that would likely allow it, but idk for sure. The APQ-100 will illuminate under different circumstances though such as much closer range < ~10nm from behind however, so might just be nature of the radar's illumination specs vs this target?

It was continuing funky behaviour for the next several engagements. Only fired directly after the mig23s had launched. Definitely not the way it used to work. E. G. CMANO or any previous CMO sparrow engagement??

Yeah I was not saying it's necessarily WAD, just what the difference was with what you were comparing too, and that it technically will illuminate at some point. I am surprised it didn't illuminate earlier as you are, but I didn't do the math on the radar specs and the I band, just spot checked the specs used for it in latest db3k (sensor 923) and cwdb's (206) 478,477,476 which have not changed recently, so whatever changed if anything for it would appear to be how that data is interpreted, perhaps for the feature set involved, if somethings is actually off it wouldn't surprise me if more than the apq-100 are being effected - or it could be that prior behavior wasn't intended? Def have to leave that to devs to look into and opine on.

Yeah sorry comment wasn't actually in reply to your useful post. I'd made the assumption radar sets were the same. I think you're likely right it's the radar that is playing up not the missile
