DE 111 India enetering

Post by Dorky8 »

I'm about to start my game. DE 111 looks like a NO to me. Is that correct?

Not so sure. The extra MPP may be worth it. Curious to hear from those "high ranking" players.

In the base case its overwhelming YES because at full mobilization India get 132 (vs 33) giving Brit 46 (8). No gives India an immediate low strength army in Egypt. Yes a 8 str army in India in '41 and Japanese get full strength unit in Singapore. There are many conditions for India mobilization increasing which is very unclear in the guide, looks like the DE is missing much info.

STRAT GUIDE

"If the Viceroy of India doesn’t bring India into the war in 1939 (see DE 111 for details) then there is
a 25% chance per turn of it joining the Allies from the 1st January 1941.
Alternatively, an Axis declaration of war against Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Philippines,
Hong Kong, Malaya, Brunei, Burma, Sarawak, the Solomons or the Dutch East Indies will automatically bring India into the war. Or in Thailand's case, an Axis declaration of war against that country
will move India 40-50% towards entering the war.
An Axis invasion of the UK will also automatically increase India’s mobilization"

DE 111 Says So the guide says go to DE 111 for more details and it has less

"DE 111 – UK: Viceroy Of India To Declare War On Germany?
 Event fires: From the 1st September 1939 if the UK is Allied and London is in Allied hands, and
India is aligned with the Allies but not fully mobilized.
 Cost of accepting: Nothing.
 Yes: India joins the Allies. A strength 8 Indian Army deploys at Bombay on or after the 1st January 1941. Supply scripts representing unrest in India after the 3rd April 1940 once Italy has
joined the Axis. Germany will in due course be presented with DE 606 and Japan with DE 801.
 No: A half strength British Army deploys at Cairo, representing Indian forces sent to serve there.
There is a 50% chance of India joining the Allies if Axis forces conquer Thailand or Egypt, and from
the 1st January 1941 there is a 25% chance per turn of India joining the Allies."

Also I dont know how significant the supply hits are or if DE 606 has more influence than the DE says.

DE 606 Is this all there is to it? a cheap garrison with and Indian name?

DE 606 – Germany: Support Indian Leader Subhas Chandra Bose?
 Event fires: From the 1st January 1942 when Tobruk is in Axis hands, Germany is Axis and not
surrendered, while Egypt and India are Allied and fully mobilized.
 Cost of accepting: 15 MPPs.
 Yes: Germany will deploy a Garrison unit at Berlin, called the Free Indian Legion.
 No: Nothing.

Many moving parts but I think my original idea was wrong and its a YES.

You first post said NO which is what I normally would do. I've tried YES in a recent game - I think it's "better" but haven't done the analysis.

Yeah the numbers are just to overwhelming 86 points per turn. If the Japanese usually declares war on one of those places early it might be ok. I thought maybe Indian mobilization ramped early but dont think so.

I've blown it twice now. [8|]

I think it is better most of the time to say yes to having India join the war right away. The MPP difference of 86 per turn for almost a year and half makes it crazy to say no. Yes, the Japs get an Army later from this and the Germans may get a Corps, but the resource difference makes it crazy not to say yes. Plus, you can send the two garrison units in India right away to France or to take the place of some of the med units that need to be in place to keep Italy from mobilizing, national morale dropping, or again to get a great start against the Italians.

I would also point out that India is sort of key to the allies for diplomacy reasons, so you can’t wait till 1941 to activate. It is rather easy for the Germans to get Turkey mobilized, in fact, I would say it almost a given for some of the elite players to go that route, so the Indian diplomacy towards blocking this effort is important.

I will say that if you plan to blitz the Italians in North Africa, it does, sort of make sense to say no. The extra Army unit right away makes taking Tobruk a lot easier. The Indians can probably build an Army and send it to North Africa though, almost in the same amount of time that it takes Italy to enter the war.

I think the majority of the elite players are getting India in the war right away.

Here's from the Allied side...the side that's fighting you globally atm Tanaka [:)]

So I said yes to DEC 111, and brought India in forthwith. I was able to build all the corps available, the armies, Hq Slim and Mountbatten, some garrisons..Inf Weapons 2 and other tech by early 42.

A few of those Indian corps really helped early on in ousting the reinforced Italians in East Africa...

Generating that MMP early also helped get ready for the Japanese. The UK could of used some of this money, but your U-boat campaign was so destructive that I turned the convoy off and spent the money internally...even had choices for diplo if needed.

Anyway...I thought about saying no at first..knowing somewhat of the consequences for both decisions...but greed and the need for troops early for Africa, the Middle East, and Indian security spurred me to take the Yes decision.

Interesting! And you can see why I get so frustrated going from WAW to WW1 Uboats! I am much more successful with WAW while everything I try in WW1 gets sunk! Haha
