Why do I need a password to download?

I"ve been re-downloading this thing for more than two weeks, gotten up to 30%, and now it asks for a username and password. I've never had this come before. GetRight always simply began downloading. What's going on?

To say this is frustrating is belaboring the obvious.

What is this thing your downloading ?

If your loading from home page I belive you have to be registered there also and here both. At least thats the way it used to be. HTH

This thing is the SPWAW ver 7.1 exe file.

I am registered here, obviously, and

1) the file began to download fine, and has been resumed 8 times without incident;

2) there is no link on the gamesdomain site to a place to register, nor is there any indication whatsoever that registering is necessary. On the contray, all instructions indicate they expect the download to begin and end without a login process;

3) gamesdomain has yet to answer my query on this silliness.

Any help would be appreciated

You could try to download it from:
ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pube/pc/games/gamesd ... e-v7-1.zip

If you dont have/want to use ftp you could do the following:

Surf to www.sunet.se (a swedish university network)

Scroll down a bit. Under the section "Tjänster" (Services) is a link to "Filarkivet" (The file archive). Use the link and you get to a search page in english.

Search for "SPWaW" in the "Filename" box and you get a page where some old versions are lsited along with "SPWaWComplete-v7-1.zip" which is the one you want.

I'm not sure if Sunet supports GetRight since I don't use it myself, but it is a very reliable site once you get in there. Sometimes there have been to many anonymous users, but it is quite rare.

Also, if you fail to find it directly in the Sunet archive, you can go to
GamesDomain and search for SPWaW in their Downloads section, as they too link to Sunet.

I had to abandon the old download and start fresh, but this seems to be working.

The reason I mentioned the password was in the past (and may still be) we had to be signed into forums AND HOME PAGE, why I don't know, has it been fixed, who knows.
