Imperator: Rome 75% off at GOG

Post by Greybriar »

If anyone is interested in Imperator: Rome it will be on sale at GOG.com for the next couple of days for 75% off and its DLCs are marked down 50%. You might want to watch this YouTube video before deciding whether or not to purchase the game.

The GOG version of Imperator: Rome is DRM-Free and does not require Steam to play. However, "ACCEPTANCE OF END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT REQUIRED TO PLAY"

If you decide to purchase the game, and you wish to buy Imperator: Rome - Deluxe Edition, you do not need to buy the Imperator: Rome base game or the Imperator: Rome - Deluxe Edition Upgrade Pack, so be sure to uncheck the boxes before placing your order.

Paying only $23.21 U.S. for The Deluxe Edition of Imperator: Rome and all its DLC seems to me to be a bargain...if it has been fixed.

After reading some of the reviews I can fully understand why the deep discount. [;)]

Actually it looks like they turned things around with the latest humongous patch - so this might be a good time to buy.

I never played the game because I was never interested in Roman times. It happens [:)]

Having purchased and played on the new patch with the deep discount, I have to say I'm really enjoying it. Held off when it was released and I'm glad I did. But now it really seems like they're doing well to turn it around at this point. The No Man's Sky development track, it would seem.

Paradox is not new to these stunts. Hearts of Iron 3 had a terrible launch. To say that it was still in pre-alpha would be compassionate (I'm still on the verge about what was the pinnacle of brokeness: two years of snow in North Africa or the Bismarck attacking Pearl Harbor ALONE). Three expansions and some patches later it became the best grand-strategic game I ever played. Nice to see that now they are fixing their messes with patches alone.

For sure Paradox is prone to messes and then fixing later with patches/overpriced dlc, but this was a special kind of mess at launch, i think. Having said that, i'm glad to have picked it up and started playing. Course, that deep discount didn't hurt one bit :-P

Yes, No Man's Sky is a great comparison. It was a flop, got reversed. I started a post earlier and mentioned that, then I deleted it before posting. Imperator Rome was a flop. 2.0 reversed that. I've had this game from the start, gave up on it, now headlong into it more than ever. It's amazing now. If you like tons and tons of tooltips, perfect game. If you like tons of micromanagement, perfect game. If not either of those, skip it.

You can play a ton of different countries besides Rome. I'm playing as Egypt now.

I also recommend the Alexander DLC for $10.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that [:D]

I went ahead and got the alexander dlc while I was at it, since there was such a deal on the base game. Really good stuff. I love the legion mechanic. Creating a unit that has it's own unique components and a growing history as the game progresses appeals to me on a really high level.

HOI4 is now one of my favorite WW2 games. The mods for it are incredible too.

I have put some serious time into HOI4; more than any other game but the old Steel Panthers. However, I have not been sold on the DLC, as ratings are still mixed. So wondering about those...

Thanks for the updates on Imperator. Got it on day one, and never went back. [;)]

I bought it when it first came out and played a bit before losing interest, but it sounds like I need to try the updated version!
