Am I to assume that this offer will not be available to the British market?

Disappointed as well. The software stores in my area only sell at full retail for the first week of release, then it's basically 20% off per week thereafter until it hits the $10 bin.

I want to support Panther and Matrix with a direct sale (maximizing their profit margin), but if I wait 2 weeks I can get it for the same price locally.

Panther and Matrix: This low discount is bad as it will not get the game the 'critical mass' it needs to have a healthy online 'Opponent Finder' community.
That was a huge failing of RDOA... you could never find an online opponent.

$34.99 and free shipping is what many of us were hoping for. Call the free shipping a marketing expense. Yes, I'm sure most of us can afford the $7, but that isn't the point. In my line of work, we exceed our customer's expectations and it pays off every time with loyalty and incredible word of mouth.

Thanks, citizen

I for one will be holding on to my original as Mr. Frag has seen fit to do. These guys poured their hearts out into this game and have never ceased to amaze me at how open they are to continued improvements. I gladly fork over the full amount to help bolster sales - it is the least I can do for the guys that have added such a fun game to my life!

Since you don't seem to be offering the 'trade in discount' in the UK I presume your idea of a 'gaming community' stops at the eastern and western seaboards of the North American continent. How wonderfully parochial

Kevin,

I have just checked with David Heath on this and confirmed that the offer is valid for all previous customers and not just those in North America. David has amended the original post. Note that the shipping to North America is $5 and $7 elsewhere.

Citizen,

I appreciate your point of view. However, we think this is a fair offer. We believe that our original customers have already received excellent value for their money on RDOA. After all, if you didn't why would you want HTTR. HTTR has been so extensively overhauled. It is really a new game. It is the fruit of over a year of development work. That doesn't come cheap and if we are to continue, we need to make a profit - pure and simple. If we don't we're out of business and you guys don't get the games you love.

We think a $15 ( or 30% ) discount is a very fair offer. At $50 full price HTTR represents excellent value. At the trade in price of $35 its a steal. You won't be dissappointed.

Hi Kevinugly

We support all of our customer everywhere. Please remember we did not publish the first game but we wanted to support Dave and Panther Games so we came up with this arrangement. I posted the draft and not the edited version sorry about that. We spend a lot of development money and our new client and effort in building up the community. Don't give up on us yet Image

Truth be told, I stopped playing RDOA when it was announced that a new patch was in the works to fix armor engagement range, mainly. It never showed up and I haven't played it since. I didn't really get full value out of it, but that isn't your fault (though I am disappointed that the patch never appeared). I am looking forward to HTTR as a patched and improved version of RDOA. In my situation, I'm paying $40 for a patch to the game I purchased and was told would be patched.

Nevertheless, I'm going to do the trade-in so you guys get the money direct. Hey, at least you dropped the shipping down to $5.

Any chance you could throw us a bone and ship our discs on November 14 so we get them the same day they hit stores?

Thanks, citizen

let me expand...please

I'm not dissapointed with paying the full price - oh, no - just with the unfairness of the offer, i.e. the US centricness [?]. If I were to take up this offer I would need to incur the cost of posting (overseas) the original CD, the extra cost of the p&p (7:5 USD), and more importantly, the import duty.

For example, when I pre-ordered CM:BO from Battle from it cost me in the region of £70 for a £40 software, why would I want that to happen, again ?

My take too. We'd be better off selling our copies of the game to the local 'Gamestation' stores than taking up Matrix's 'offer'. I'm also tempted to go into a massive rant about 'support', 'Americans', 'Gulf War' etc. but I won't. Life is too short. I would say though that when it was announced that 'game two' was going to be an 'enhanced' version of 'game one' I was disappointed. Then when the possibility of a 'trade-in' deal was announced I stated my doubts as to whether such a thing would occur in the UK. I hate to say it, but I was right and for one I will not be rushing off to my local game stores to purchase HTTR.

If this were the original publisher I would but more faith in your argument. Matrix did not make a dime of of anybody's money for the first game. When the close combat series went to SSI from Microsoft, did anyone get a discount on the game? Heck they even went back to Normandy in the series! I believe the discount is more than generous. I'll keep the original however, not worth the time and effort; I would rather Matrix and Panther have the money.
